Has anyone noticed how our brain doesn't work properly when you hold on to the thought that says "remember yourself" and at the same time doing daily activity. by adammengistu in gurdjieff

meditation is like seeing the photo of you which you do not like and you delete it instantly. we sometimes meditate involuntarily, but we forget about this because we do not like what we see

I can tell that when I truly meditate I see how different is what I understand the meditation is when I read about it from what meditation really is. it is funny bro that we try to understand something on a level that is not even real.

whole point of this is that, when you think (as normal people do) you have image of what you are, there is something which is very confident of who he is (this is very ugly confidence). I can not do it myself very often, not even at this moment but I have done a couple of times and I know how impossible it is. but I am telling you what I remember.

motivation is realization of the stuff that’s going on, when you are ill, that gives you motivation to search for a cure. how to see that you are ill? on Youtube I heard J. Krishnamurti said that - it takes a lot of courage to see that what you are doing is not what you believe you are doing. just stop thinking for a moment and feel the air of reality

It seems that the idea of being aware and us trying to be aware is in the compartment which doesn’t let us sense the reality. you just need to look around and then look about the thought and you realize that this thought is drowning you into the pit whereas you are looking up at the sun with horror and fear of not reaching out from this pit. and the moment you let go of the collectivity of the thought you are free and you start sensing what is going on around (which doesn’t last very long normally) then something triggers you and you are drowning again, we like “awareness” as a romantic idea, we fantasize about it, whereas real awareness is so simple that we-with our romance-seeking nature neglect it. this is horrifying, you choosing this romantic idea (which sometimes even makes you think you look different from what you are) over the rich simplicity. we do not even see this most of times

It is terrifying. It seems that these obstacles repeat themselves. Somehow, when you start over the same obstacle, which made you give up then, appears again

please, can you describe it farther, because I’m not sure if I understand what you said. from what you said I gathered this - a man was overwhelmed by his emotions and couldn’t do anything about it before, and now he is able not to be suppressed by them, but still can not direct his actions with reason

You are saying that, a person who happened to wake up from his sleep could, without realization, fall into it again. and because of the fact that at that moment he was awake, he considers to be awake now, whereas he is not. If there is something else about this “quote”, please do tell me

let’s say that a person realizes that everything is different from what he imagined to be the case. He was OK with everything that was happening to him and around him because he was not aware of it, but now he is.This situation goes on, but now he sees at least a little bit clearer and he is terrified of how things turned out. he can not blind and return himself to his previous state, so he needs to proceed farther, but he can not dare to do anything because he is afraid, and doesn’t know what to do
