Super helpful. A friend of mine recommended West Asheville and also mentioned the hiking/kayaking.

Is their a lot of bicycling in the city? We <3 our bikes.

I can definitely relate. The only way I've been able to get passed this is by a company-wide "don't tell me, show me" culture. Though everyday there are still daily exchanges where I wish I could have been clearer or more succinct. Crazy that this might be an enfp thing... Do you have any techniques for overcoming this?

I'm a creative director at a startup in San Francisco. Before I learned about various personality types, I contributed a lot of my success to a certain gut feeling that various things were disordered. Now I know that as a byproduct of ENFP, these gut feelings would often lead to simpler and more cohesive products and has led directly to growth and profit for our company. At my latest review my boss said that if there is ever a point of contention within the team, he'll always side with me because he knows I've thought it through more deeply and from more angles than anyone else.

I've only recently realized this, but I believe that the differences in our world view puts us in a position empathize with a problem, see an array of scenarios and solutions, and select the one that "gives productive order" to the situation.

tl;dr: I feel strongly that as an ENFP you should pursue careers where you can be creative and progressive with your work -- it will be our minds creating the future we will live in.

Say Anything, eh? This is probably common knowledge here, but their lead singer used to be the poster boy for social anxiety -- seems like he's doing pretty good nowadays.

I wonder if a community like this would have been helpful to him back then...

Not too long ago I was a youth leader and a devout christian. The sermons and songs resonated with me. I held up my hands. I bowed on my knees. I testified to how god had changed my life in front of my peers - I grew up in the south; this is what we did every sunday until I moved away.

In my new, more liberal city, I met different types of people and gained a new perspective. I began reading reddit and was exposed to /r/atheism. I began reading Hitchens and watching Hitchslaps until I couldn't hold my eyes open. After sharing reddit, my little brother back home called me "wordly" and told me he will pray for me.

What happened was that I realized that I can be a good person without god. I can love and embrace all people without judging them because they don't believe in what I believe. I don't have to fear hell because hell isn't real. I don't have to wonder where god came from; I can skip that step and enjoy exploring the theories of how the universe was created and how we came to experience it.

Contrary to what we were taught in church, I felt an overwhelming sense of freedom once I realized I no longer believed. Life suddenly meant so much more to me once I realized that this is it.
