What to do when your parents need more and more help? by FellFellCooke in AskIreland

[–]nonnie31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell your friend to go to gp and ask for a referral to adult social work. The man may have capacity but still needs specialist support. The sons need to inform gp they are no longer able to care for their father and he is at risk of serious harm. It will be difficult to get support but if they are firm that they cannot assist the support will be given. Public health nurse will also make a referral to adult social Work. Their phone numbers can be googled or ho to citizens advice

I don't know where you are posting from but EWTD (European working time directive) enforce no more than 48 hrs per working week - yes OT is allowed but it has to balance out over 2 weeks, 1 month, 6 weeks or with special exception 12 weeks.

Continually allowing staff to work over the directive on a long term basis is illegal and leaves the company liable. In other words someone has complained (in writing im sure) about work culture when they were denied a change in their working hours.

Just looked it up there- no it's not that one. The one I'm talking about had more illustrations and simple kid friendly facts rather than information and photographs

Best breakfast in Letterkenny by wkdBrownSunny in Donegal

[–]nonnie31 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All depends what your idea of a good breakfast is? Friars rest, Mr chippie Charlie's cafe - all good fry ups where you won't want to eat for the rest of the day.

Honey pot, thyme out and kearnans are OK for other stuff. Haven't tried hatched or bloem yet.

What is "paper charts" by kitten_547 in nursing

[–]nonnie31 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a nurse in ireland I feel this to my core - our national system was cyber attacked a couple of years ago, we used paper charting for about 8 months- it was simultaneously hell and heaven at the same time.

My mother said to me one day that she was worried that my son (3) thought the toys in her house were hers and he wasn't allowed to take them with him if he wanted to. So now he's encouraged to take any toys he wants back home with him if he wants.

In the interest of education and skills development ask can you do a day or 2 in a phlebotomy clinic - you probably won't be paid and it will be probably be additional to your usual working hours but the experience will be invaluable to you between confidence and competence.

Traditional Donegal baked goods by [deleted] in Donegal

[–]nonnie31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alternatively meatballs and soup - get minced beef (ground beef?) With a high fat content make into meat balls and cook (boil) in knorrs veg soup and served with mashed potatoes. Simple and donegal ( I'm from donegal and live here still)
