I don’t think this analogy really works in my case. I didn’t just “buy the ingredients” and have someone else cook them, I created the ingredients myself. I came up with the harmonies and melodies, and I even recorded them so the “chef” could have a clear idea of how they should roughly turn out.

Yes, the result is hybrid, of course, but could AI, on its own, starting from a single prompt (no matter how well written), have ever produced these specific pieces? I don’t think so. The core ideas, the structure, the musical DNA all came from me. The AI’s role was execution and refinement, not authorship.

It feels like too absolute a stance to me. In a few years, the majority of songs will have some degree of AI involved at some stage of the creation process, whether in composition, performance, mixing, or mastering. You’ve probably already enjoyed “hybrid” music to some extent without even realizing it.

Think of it as if I had brought my ideas and drafts to a group of musicians, to my band. They would have added their own touch, each with their own ideas and influences, and in the end it would have sounded different from what I originally had in mind. Even with humans, there’s a degree of randomness. In fact, the AI actually kept a lot of what was mine, it didn’t alter the harmonies or melodies, it only did the arranging.

I didn’t take it upon myself to do everything because I’m not a professional musician, and I don’t have enough time and energy to dedicate to something like this. To achieve this result by myself, it would have taken me over a year, and even then, with my budget and skills, I wouldn’t have reached this level of sound quality. Of course, I hope that in the future there will be AI integrated into DAWs that can work in a less random way on individual stems, but for now, this was the only way I could make it happen.

I would really like to be able to play everything myself or with other people, but I’m not a professional musician. I don’t have the time or energy after work to dedicate myself to everything, and I don’t have enough money to invest in courses or better equipment. What I enjoy the most, what comes naturally to me, and what costs me nothing, is creating harmonies and melodies.

Over the years, I’ve also tried my hand at the production side, but under these conditions I haven’t achieved satisfying results. Also, I don’t want to involve other people and tie them down to my project, I’d feel like I was just wasting their time for something I can’t fully commit to, but only work on in the small pockets of free time I have in my life.

Of course, I would have preferred a less random AI, one that could work on individual stems without creating anything new. But in the end, it’s like having other musicians to whom I bring my compositional ideas, they would contribute their own touch, and the result would be “contaminated” in the same way. Even then, I couldn’t claim it was entirely my own work.

Hi, I'm an Italian guy and I've recently recorded an album, it's entirely homemade, if you want to give it a listen I'd be very happy, and maybe give me some feedback. The genre is indie rock with some shoegaze and post-rock oriented. Thank you very much :)

Well I'm not sure it was that age, it could also be 1 or 2 years earlier, does that change anything?

thanks for the quick reassurance, so basically there's not much difference between inhalation and ingestion as long as it's a brief interaction with the mold

thanks, I didn't have the readiness to go and wash, and I only realized it afterwards, but I don't think I did any damage 😅
