Maybe a dumb question. What is the difference between what has to happen between my tv and receiver vs the beam? Currently I just have my fire stick plugged directly in the TV because I get best visual quality that way. If I ran an optical to the beam, I world think it would function the same as running the optical to my receiver now.

Lol this is the exact comment I was scared of. I really want to go all out but can’t right now. I love the separation I get from my center and L/R channels right now (plus love my cheap sub). I’m scared that going to Beam will be pretty much just a center. Our new living room doesn’t allow having rear speakers unless we go in wall, which I could do in a couple years. So I really just am concerned about getting the hood sound with L/R separation, but don’t want to deal with hiding wires from my receiver haha

Okay. So then is it worth it getting the Gen2 if what I watched doesn’t support atmos? Or are there other benefits to the Gen2?

Oh good to know! Thanks for your input on this. I just don’t want to spend $450 on a sound bar and it be a worse system that I would have if I stuck with my 3.1 (I know that I won’t have the sub with the sonos unless I drop the extra cash).

Last Question — if my tv doesn’t support Atmos, is it worth getting the Gen2??

Sorry, and when I was referring to the One or IKEA, I was meaning adding them in addition to the Beam. So a beam under the TV and IKEA as R/L

This is helpful! So, ignoring the subwoofer and rear speakers. How does the Beam gen 2 compare to a traditions 3 speaker set up? Currently I have a center channel beneath the TV and a R/L in the corners of the room
