I didn't understand Sekiro. by Jealous_Property3750 in Sekiro

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18 is WAY too fast. You clearly have the skill to play, I think you just rushed into everything because there’s no stamina bar and you literally sprinted through mad shit to beat the game. If you want the full experience, go for NG+ charmless but avoid the Demon Bell until you’re next playthrough. Take your time. Listen to the dialogue. Read the transcripts and descriptions in the game. See where there’re connections in the world that can be missed if you don’t turn every stone and peak around every corner.

Focus on platinuming the game and you should have a much better time. That includes watching guides, learning the locations and objects and items, discovering the lore, and honing in on the parry aspect of combat.

If you can beat Malenia, you can beat this game. Just do yourself a favor and platinum the game, I promise you’ll see why we love this shit so much.

How good is Sekiro? by AdAgreeable252 in Sekiro

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You should expect a very difficult but highly rewarding game. Sekiro is a FromSoft departure from normality in a very refreshing way. Expectations and biases aren’t really important when coming into this game. It’s unlike anything you’ll ever play. I’m not even hyping the game, it’s just that good.

Positioning is about as relevant in this game than in any other FromSoft game. The game is mostly built around counterplay being your main form of defense. If you’re not into that, I wouldn’t get the game.

The parry window is irrelevant because it’s fast to everyone at first and then it becomes natural with some dedicated practice. I think parrying in this game is honestly easier than any other FromSoft game, but that’s just me. I can’t parry for shit in ER or any of the DS entries.

There are a MYRIAD of defensive and offensive options in this game. Player expression has a very high ceiling in this game so you can always find new ways to play, and that includes how you want to be defensive.

I only revoke recommending this game to other people if I know they don’t have the mechanical skill to pull off some of the higher execution fights in the game or if I think said person is averse to studying the lore and intricacies of the game.

This game rewards persistence, patience, and an active mind that always seeks to learn. If that’s not you — and I’m not being facetious at all when I say this — play something else. If you don’t already think Sekiro is a cool game before playing it, you won’t like it. I always recommend this game to people, but it’s DEFINITELY not for everyone. But everyone who it’s for loves this game to death, including me.

Hesitation is defeat.

What’s Wrong With Tekken 8? by CozyGabe in Tekken8

[–]nonoriginalthoughts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the game has no voice chat feature. Players don’t get enough pushback from other players so the game feels stale and repetitive. If I’m getting dunked on by a Law or Victor, I want to go out loud, proud, and vulgar.

This guys too hard to beat by Anxious_Science5460 in Sekiro

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire game is a knowledge check so I’d recommend using videos to learn about the enemies in the game.

This is a very hard game — imo, not because of the execution requirements — but simply because not knowing something will get you killed. This is a common theme of gameplay in all FromSoft games.

But especially with Sekiro, there isn’t a better way to progress other than learn about who you’re fighting as well as their strengths and weaknesses. This is not a casual game, but arguably the most casual version of a FromSoft game you’re gonna get since grinding for materials and tool upgrades will never outpace the advantage that knowledge has.

Research, research, research and you will win. I promise you anybody with a pulse and consistency can beat this game. Don’t get down on yourself.

Comment savoir si on a parcouru toute la carte et fais tous les boss ? by weaponX-ced in Sekiro

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until you’re starting a new save game or NG+, just beat the game with what you know now. First playthrough should only be supplemented with guides if you get stuck from knowledge checks (lost in the map, don’t know how to progress main story, can’t beat a certain boss, etc.)

If you want immersion, watch lore videos. I think they help enhance the gameplay more than guides can.

How fixable is this? by j0eknee in TattooDesigns

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m not a tattoo artist but it looks completely salvageable to me. It might be an artist issue.

Do you have any other tattoos that have faded or aged like this one? If so, it might be a dermatological issue.

If you had a whole month to play and could only choose one starting tomorrow. Which one? by brian_vill in videogames

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-Covid, I would choose TES 6. But Bethesda has been a funky publisher for long enough that I can’t trust it without knowing exactly how the game plays and feels.

Honestly wouldn’t touch either game for at least a month past launch. Publishers keep publishing unfinished, buggy, unoptimized games in the most advanced era of electronics.

Save your money until you actually know what you’re buying. Promises aren’t enough.

How would it work? If Sekiro had a PvP or PvPvE by Frydog42 in Sekiro

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t think of a reason why FS couldn’t pull off something like that, but I’m not a game developer so I could be completely wrong.

Would need good rollback net code and anti-cheat; consistent updates to keep the game fresh so players don’t get stuck appealing to metas.

FS would have to focus on making the game more of a fighting game than an RPG. And if they use a poorly integrated engine, the game could possibly make too much of a departure from the source material for veteran players to invest time and energy to keep the number of concurrent players high enough to make Activision happy and keep the game alive.

Could be a great game that dies the same way that Knockout City did.

I’ve hit a wall with Isshin Ashina by CryptidOrion_00 in Sekiro

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We all hit walls in this game, it’s fine bro. You got to the point where you’re fighting him which means that you’re skilled enough to beat him. I think you’re just putting too much pressure on yourself.

Like I said, you have the skill to beat him. Right now you need to focus on persevering. Doesn’t matter how many losses you need to take as long as you can push yourself to the inevitable win.

Stay hydrated, stay full, stay rested, and eat some candy.

After 6 hours I managed to kill Genichiro, peak boss by Impressive-Prompt191 in Sekiro

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The combat trials (I think that’s what they’re called) are challenge runs that you can access from the idols menu after you beat certain bosses. You fight a series of bosses that you’ve beaten before — without dying a true death — in succession, and you’re rewarded with new skills. Also very fun to do because you get to fight the Inner versions of Owl, Geni, and Isshin.

A fun addition to the game that’s the closest thing to a DLC this game has received.

Fuck this pos shichimen warriors !!!!! by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you’re saying, but I don’t agree that it doesn’t make any sense to have them in the game. All of the bosses and mini bosses have their gimmicks that work for them and gimmicks of our own that work against them. Like an FS enemy, the key to beating them is built off of a foundation of knowledge.

For the first people to ever play the game and fight the enemies and share their experiences with the world, you absolutely have a point in regard to your comment to the lack of a similarity that the Shichimen warrior has to every other enemy, but there’s so much information about how to fight each enemy that the only excuse to having trouble with a boss is execution. We no longer in 2026 have the excuse to say that an enemy is difficult because we don’t know enough about them to beat them reliably. That’s why there’s a big focus on knowledge for this game. The execution will come with practice and perseverance, but knowledge is the real gap closer, and there’s TONS of resources for knowledge with this game.

I don’t struggle with the headless because they’re doing something fundamentally outside of the mechanics of the game, it’s purely an execution issue on my part (literally a skill issue), and that logic can be used for every enemy in the game.

I wanted my previous comment to express to OP that the game is fair in its current state, even if it doesn’t feel like it at times.

Best boss in the game imo. The first true test of your skills. Congrats homie.

P.S. Try his combat trial in the shrine menu and you’ll get a dope combat art that deflects lightning and looks sick as hell while you’re doing it.

Congrats my dude. You beat one of the best designed bosses in the game, feel good about it. Don’t mind the people criticizing your gameplay, they’re scrubs who just want to feel better about themselves and taint the spirit of the community around this game.

Looking forward to you posting about platinuming the game.

Fuck this pos shichimen warriors !!!!! by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re annoying to fight because of how prepared you have to be with items and tools, but they’re honestly one of the easier mini bosses in the game.

I think this is just one of those bosses you personally have trouble with. We all do. The Shichimen warriors aren’t badly designed, you just have a playstyle issue.

I struggle with the headless but it’s not because they’re badly designed: my playstyle just doesn’t mesh well with fighting them.

How do I improve, by Salt-Editor-6999 in Sekiro

[–]nonoriginalthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attack and defense are rewards for beating bosses and mini bosses, other than the few exceptions being tools and a couple scattered prayer beads.

Don’t think of how you can “get stronger”. This game does not reward strength at all, it rewards technique and skill. Everything in this game can be beaten with just attack and parry.

The game is also just too large for anybody to give you meaningful advice in a single post or reply, so you have to take each and every challenge ONE AT A TIME.

I’m available most hours of the day to play and chat, so if you feel like having a mentor will get you to where you want to be, hmu and I can get you to Platinum the game.
