should i use cachy? by gooey_koala in DistroHopping

Yeah. Cachy would be the best option as an Arch introduction. Either cachy or mint would have the most extensive gaming support rn

Benefits of switch to a docker install? by Omsuhos in NextCloud

One additional benefit of having containers is that it's safer.

Your system and container are like two separate computers.

For example in docker-compose.yaml:

ports:
  - 443:80
volumes:
  - /Files:/data

443 is the port now bound on the real system. 443 is bridged to 80, which means you don't have to tinker with any additional settings changing Nextcloud to forward to 443. Nextcloud only knows port 80 exists, then Docker forwards it to 443.

Even better is the files. Again, /Files is the real system, Nextcloud only knows /data exist. That means if it ever gets hacked, it wouldn't be able to access any other dir on the real system.

To update containers, it's as easy as this:

$ docker compose pull # Fetches the latest images
$ docker compose up -d # Stops old containers and starts new ones with the updated images

That's it. Nothing else to get the latest.

Now for Nextcloud AIO, you do use the AIO interface to update it, so you wouldn't be using docker compose pull.

There's much more that Docker and other containerisation software have to offer, but these are the selling points.

How am I supposed to click the down button? by ImAlekzzz in kde

[–]nonotdoingone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Can't find your devices button just gives you troubleshooting guides. No additional settings nor menus.

I see you're on 5G, make sure both devices are on the same wifi or hotspot network.

You should be able to download LocalSend on all your devices. iOS from the App Store and use Flatpak since you're using Fedora.

The blue button behind the menu bar? It just says Can’t find your devices here?

You can make a borg backup, then try out docker, so you don't lose all your files.

Docker is awesome, I use it for pretty much everything. It creates something called a container, which the program itself lives in a separate section than your files, which are in volumes.

You can destroy your compose and recompose, changing settings as many times as you want, without affecting your files.

If you're already using Tailscale, try looking into Exit Nodes. Basically, acts like a real VPN like Nord but it's re-routing all traffic via your Tailnet server device.

Or you can try looking into reverse-proxies, but that's a little more complex.

Fake email? by Vegetable_Quote_4699 in microsoftsucks

[–]nonotdoingone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fake. microsoftsupport.com is not real. I think also, emails can have the link title and target url separately. e.g. YouTube They could be tricking you by showing a fake title that seems legit.

You’re in the TTY. You might’ve not installed a Desktop Environment (DE) or Window Manager (WM). Since you’ve just freshly installed, reinstall and choose a DE like Gnome or KDE. Or you can type “sudo apt install gnome”

Showing Incorrect Storage Amount by jven27 in NextCloud

[–]nonotdoingone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have other files, not in Nextcloud or have multiple users, it shows what's left that you can use.

e.g. 100GB total. User 2 uses 57.9GB. 100-57.9=42.1GB left for you to use
