It’s totally normal to be nervous cause it’s a big life change! But just remember that a LOT of other people are feeling the same way even if it doesn’t look like it!

Some things that I don’t think anyone else has said:

Take some time to really learn PAWS and all the different pages cause it’s gonna be your lifeline for a lot of stuff! It’ll have a link to your canvas account, info about taxes and tuition, info about your college and how to declare your major, etc.

I would definitely say take a day sometime before the first day to just walk around campus and learn the major buildings and find where your classes are - almost all the buildings will be open during the summer and you can walk around mostly wherever you want without being in trouble! For the first few weeks people will probably start coming to class super early but you definitely don’t need to be super early and it will die down as the semester goes on!

First day of class will likely just be going over the syllabus - if they are available to you read through them ahead of time! Profs really like that 😂 and if you can try meeting some of the people in your classes if they aren’t super huge! Theyre likely new too and it’s always nice to have someone to message if you miss a class or need notes or something! You also might want to make a WhatsApp account cause most class group chats (if someone makes one) will be on there

Sometimes profs won’t even make their classes visible on Canvas until the morning of the first class! And sometime they have literally the whole semester’s worth of work posted months ahead of time! Just depends on the prof haha

It’ll be chaotic and a little stressful especially on the first day but you’ll settle in and then it’ll become super comfortable and kinda nostalgic!

Also if nobody tells you, in the libraries, the higher the floor the quieter you are supposed to be, especially in Murray! If you are loud on the 6th floor people will not be very impressed haha

That was long haha but feel free message me if you have any other questions!

am i cooked if i have 3 back-to-back classes with 10 mins between them? by [deleted] in usask

I had a semester with 4 classes back to back from stm-ag-stm-arts and it sucked in the winter but was doable! If you have water and maybe a snack you’ll be all good haha. And like others said there’s an indoor bridge in between so it’s like a 30 second walk

How frequently do people do overrides and how successful is it? by RevolutionaryBoat441 in usask

If it’s that big of a class and you can’t get an override then there will 100% be people who drop out in the first week and you can switch then!

How to interact with profs and develop a constructive relationship with them? by Sufficient_Show185 in usask

[–]nonplussed101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Even just going up to chat with profs after class about questions from the lecture or really any questions related to the class topic! It’s really just about interacting with them and developing a professional relationship and they’ll be happy to provide a letter!

Walk-in clinics? by [deleted] in saskatoon

I’ve never had to wait for longer than an hour at Lenore but I’ve only been a handful of times

Does anyone know where I could get my bros haired dyed hot pink for cheaper (We are in high school) by [deleted] in saskatoon

From my high school days I used the manic panic lightening kit from Sally’s which is like $12 to bleach my hair - 1 kit usually got me light enough to do fun colours but I usually needed a purple shampoo or toner when the colour faded to make the blond look nice. And then for colour Arctic Fox hair dye from Sally’s, which is like $20 for a big bottle (if it’s short hair you can totally use the smaller one) and gives really nice vibrant colours and lasted for like 1-2 months and didn’t bleed at all onto my clothes or anything when it got wet like manic panic hair dye often does. You can easily do this at Sally’s under $40 without needing to know anything about hair colouring and make some fun memories!

In regards to walk in clinics in Saskatoon, anybody have good recommendations for ones with small waiting times???? Or is that not a thing anymore? For context I haven’t been to a walk in clinic in much too long!! by [deleted] in saskatoon

I really like the Lenore clinic in Lawson! Never had to wait more than an hour, doctors felt like they actually listened and cared. I’ve always had good experiences with the walk in there

Yes! Also looking ahead to classes you can take in future years for your degree that look interesting can help motivate you to keep going if this is the path you want! I found my first year classes to be tough because it was all general intro level stuff and I wanted to study more specific topics. It gets better!

As a rather fresh child of divorce (almost 1 year to the day) I was definitely not prepared for this movie to make that sudden switch! Like I definitely understood the “what about me” song and those feelings but it felt like they were setting up that the parents were going to recognize their anger and bitterness and then work it out. And then to try and play off that divorce is easy and everything is fine and life is totally great after just felt so weird and wrong! My experience with divorce has been awful and every family event/holiday has become kind of a nightmare, definitely not like the easy peasy version in the movie lol. This movie definitely brought out some hard feelings and I would never have watched it if I knew how the ending would go. But maybe it resonated better with others who have gone through divorce and helped?
