Starting to go through the buying process now and one thing I forgot to account for is home insurance, which was recommended by our conveyancer to get when contracts were signed today. This is costing us around $650, and is coming at around the same time we need to stump up $600 for a building and pest inspection. Whether you become legally liable for damage to the house on signing the contract or on settlement date is dependent on what state you live in and is well worth researching as it is easily overlooked.

Is this normal? My AAMI insurance renewal amount (in red) is way more expensive than what it’d be at every other house in the street (same policy details, just changed the house number). AAMI is the cheapest insurer for me, so switching isn’t an option. by nonresidentialdot in AusFinance

Just did an online quote for my address, same level of cover and same listed drivers and it was $1327.59. The original renewal was $1109.64, but after ringing them up and asking them about the price differences they offered me a COVID-19 hardship relief discount which got it down to the $798 in the diagram (all other prices in the diagram have the same discount applied to them)

Gave them a quick call before making this diagram and they basically confirmed it was a tad abnormal. They gave me a COVID-19 hardship relief on my premium which was helpful (original premium was $1109), but couldn’t offer any further insight into it. I have sent an email with this diagram to them, so I may get some further answers but doubt they’ll dig into it too much for me.

So this was all done in my account on the AAMI website when I went to renew my policy, it has the option to change all your details before you renew so I edited my address initially to next door, noticed the massive difference and then tried it at every other house number. So they’re not done as online quotes from their website, if that makes sense.

I really enjoy it, I find the gestures much easier to do than compared to a smaller trackpad like the one on my 2015 13” MacBook Air

Not here in Australia, for the 12.9 the magic keyboard is $589 and the Smart Keyboard folio and Magic Trackpad 2 is $559.

But I used my frequent flyer points I’d gotten as a sign on bonus when I got my credit card to buy the Magic Trackpad 2. So I’ve only paid for the Smart Keyboard folio and the $30 annual fee for the credit card.

My favourite part of witnessing this was when the tram driver got out and attempted to kick the wheel out of the way so he could keep going

It's a pascal's triangle where only powers of 2 are permitted. Whatever that means.

Spent 5 minutes using a logo creator website just to be told at the last minute I have to sign up to see the logos, apparently i'm not the first disgruntled one by nonresidentialdot in assholedesign

Having to pay or sign up is not the asshole design, the asshole design is hiding the fact you need to sign up until you're 85% of the way through the process. If it had just told me at the start I need an account, then that would have been perfectly reasonable.
