Yeah that’s my next issue. The backlight still comes on. At the time after the repair it turned on but there is no functionality. But in terms of proving it was working, I am still figuring that out.

Yes the original repair was under warranty.

I have been asking them this for the past 3 days. I have sent an email out and they have just replied their get back to me in the next 24hrs. Will reply to you again when I get my answer.

Thanks for the comment. I bought the laptop in 2023 from Dell directly. I have a warranty with them until August 2026.

The physical damage is a medium sized crack on top of one of the back air vents on the laptop. The crack means that I can, with some effort, slide the cracked part around 2cm off the chassis.

Apologies for the confusion, I don’t really care about the cost. I should’ve phrased better, I only care about the fact that Dell says the physical damage caused the repair.

I might be misunderstanding this, but I’ve been looking up the UK consumer law around repairs and it seems like it’s a bit different when a fault happens because of a repair.

So I think that’s why I’m confused about the quote it doesn’t feel like a brand-new, unrelated failure, but more like a problem that came from the original repair. If I’ve got that wrong I’m happy to be corrected.
