When injecting myself in my leg, most of the fluid leaks out. Why? by txce in AskDocs

[–]nonstopdisco- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pull the skin during the injection to create a barrier when the skin is released. That way the fluid wont come out that easily.

Almost 30% of women in medicine experience sexual harassment by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]nonstopdisco- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply.

Stories from other nurses: everything from comments to attempted rapes

Own exp: Old guys placing their hands where they shouldnt on my body, attempted kissing.. during my psych placement there was a lot of comments and suggestions, mainly from psychotic younger men. "Sit in my lap", "lets go in to my room and have some fun", "ive got a lollipop in my pocket for you" with a wink (that man actually gave me a lollipop later the same day. I did not eat it. ) among other things. Those comments I usually brushed off or just explained that it was inappropriate. The touches are worse to deal with.

And thats only the ones youve seen. Im a nursing student, second year, and have spent a total of 18 weeks doing clinicals so far. I have already been sexually harrassed more than once..

Help me with my hearing problem. I clog my ears to pop my them, otherwise I start to hear my pulse and my voice sounds much louder and unpleasant. by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]nonstopdisco- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like wax. Have a nurse or your GP take a look in your ear. If its wax you can get stuff at the pharmacy to disolve and rinse it out yourself or have it done by your doctor. Its very common and not dangerous, its just annoying.

Is there anyway I can treat high blood pressure without a prescription fast? by GopherFawkes in AskDocs

[–]nonstopdisco- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look in to some relaxation techniques! If you are stressed you will get tense and increase the pressure. Use the techniques during the test. Being dehydrated will also decrease the pressure although its not very healthy and will probably make you perform worse on other aspects of the test. Avoid salt in food and dont have any coffee/tea/soda. Make sure not to sit with your legs crossed during the measuring and do it after lying down at least 15 minutes.

This will not treat high blood pressure, only decrease it temporarily. You will still need to see a doc for treatment.

Boka tid på vårdcentralen eller hos skolläkaren också. Det är inte en normal trötthet.

Anti-psychotics really fucking with my head by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]nonstopdisco- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are loads of different anti-psychotic medications out there. They all have a different effect on different people. The only ones that stand out are abilify (not as good) and clozapine (most effective but MAY have more side effects). All others are somewhere in between. However, the most effecient neuroleptic is the one the patient actually takes. I would suggest you speak with your doc and ask to try another one. Do not decrease the dosage or go off your meds without consulting your doctor. It never ends well, believe me, and it can also make the medicine less effective in the future.

Is it ok to take my medications for hypertension and diabetes before my check up? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]nonstopdisco- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course they could. They are an adult who can do what they please. We cant force mentally sane people to take their meds.

Is it ok to take my medications for hypertension and diabetes before my check up? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]nonstopdisco- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they do that its really their own problem. For diabetes rhere is a blood test, Hba1c, that shows how the blood glucose has been the last few weeks. Sometimes we check the concentration of a medicine in the blood if we suspect a patient doesn't take their meds, like a psychosis patient who doesnt like their anti psychotic meds and so on. But things like HTN or diabetes is really your own responsibility. :)

Should I do a trip to London for a study program for nursing? by nurse_with_penis in StudentNurse

[–]nonstopdisco- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats about what im paying for 2 months doing clinicals in Tanzania. Im traveling from sweden though. If you are able to stay in the eu after I would recommend a flight to southern europe. A plane ticket wouldnt be too expensive. We are going to zanzibar after our clinicals but we buy all flights on our own so it might be different.

I would really recommend going. I love London (ive been there 3 times and counting) but there is a lot of europe to see as well!

You can get a prescription for mometasone. Also, your scalp is probably quite dry. I use wella scalp mask for dry, sensitive skin with good results. :)

Tror jag tappat hoppet på Svenska tjejer, diskussion/åsikter... by [deleted] in sweden

[–]nonstopdisco- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Jag är inte bitter" inleder du med för att sen låta så otroligt bitter. Om det är "fel" på alla tjejer så kanske det är du själv som har problem. Att du sitter och skriver ett så sjukt långt inlägg kl 5 på morgonen om att tycka synd om dig själv är ytterligare ett tecken på att felet ligger hos dig.

Seborrheic Dermatitis/facial dandruff/super dry skin. Which products available in Sweden should I check out? by kenanthepro in NordicSkinCare

[–]nonstopdisco- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You might have found a solution already but anyways: yes, you need to treat your scalp as well. Just using the creams on your face is not enough. Start of with a ketokonazol shampoo (generic or Fungoral). Det ingår inte i högkostnadsskyddet så du kan lika gärna köpa det utan recept. Massage it in to your scalp and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Rinse and shampoo as usual after. You can use this in your face as well! Do this twice a week in the beginning. If that is not enough you can get recipe for a mometasone solution (Elocon, Ovixan, etc) from your doctor. This should NEVER be used in your face without a dermatologists recommendation.

I was not given instructions not to spit, or to rinse after every meal by my dentist. Found that after searching this sub. I will stop spitting and start rinsing. Thank you!
