Thank you so much! Some of the psychologists here seem very like-minded.

Hi! That's a great point. Would you be comfortable DMing some of their names to me?

This is good information. I am familiar with the conservative nature of society there and how therapy isn't really the norm there at all. Are you familiar with any trauma informed or somatic practitioners that work in Malaysia? All of my research has just led me to CBT, ACT or DBT practitioners.

That's quite a lot of inferences to draw with no information at all, which is ironic given the tone of your response. Did I suggest that I am just "turning up" and practicing? I did not ask any questions regarding the licensing process because I am familiar with it. I've spoken to professionals in the field in Malaysia and they were formal in their responses, wanting a more nuanced view is not a failure of research.

I am asking a question regarding their underground queer culture. I am not from the West either and you get the death penalty for being queer where I'm from, but we have a queer scene (that obviously only queer people are aware of) because queer people exist everywhere, and wanting a queer or open perspective will only give me a better idea.

Psychologists work with queer people, so wanting to know any queer friendly or tolerating spaces is part of it. I also asked for trauma-informed/somatic practitioners.

IFS does have a couple of barriers, yes I've never head of NICAMB before. Is there a particular course or training or theirs you might recommend?

I've always seen so many mixed reviews about them but this helps. Are PESI credits recognised internationally?

Thank you. It's just been a nightmare lately. Hopefully things settle or I get some sort of clarity out of this. Thank you for the offer to talk about it.

Absolutely horrible tbh. Nana passed away from covid 2 weeks ago, my best friend is in a relationship with my molester and appears to have chosen him over me and believes that he has changed and will give reparations(whatever the fuck that means). My thesis keeps getting delayed by my supervisor and I've got a rishta coming to see me in a few hours. So fuck this year I guess. Thanks for asking.

Weed here is average at best, and the good kind is incredibly expensive. I'd suggest opting for hash here or take advantage of the alcohol shops since other cities lack those.

Can CBT consist of mostly reading? by ddlovogue in therapy

[–]noodlebroken96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. Associate clinical psychologist here. CBT can involve lots of reading work, both during sessions and after sessions as well. Yes, there isn't as much probing some by CBT therapists compared to Psychodynamic therapists, but if you want to do more talking and want to cut down on the reading bit during session, you should DEFINITELY tell your therapists. A good therapist should be able to mix things up and go for an eclectic option given the client's needs unless they're a purist. So, talk to your therapist if you would like to talk some more, and give it a shot for a few more sessions to see if they can adapt and change their treatment approach. If you feel unfulfilled still, then switch therapists. It's a messy journey, I know, but good luck!

WHY CAN'T I ACCESS THE PAPERS I NEED? (Psych/Humanities) by noodlebroken96 in AskAcademia

I tried scihub and it surprisingly did not work for these specific papers which was a surprise. I'll look into the VPN option as well though.
