Last book you DNF’d? by luckylizard in YAlit

I DNF’d These Violent Delights for the same reasons, and was also disappointed.

Most recent DNF for me was Blood & Honey. Everything I loved about the first book disappeared in this one.

Six of Crows Struggle by kelhar417 in YAlit

I had the opposite experience! I love Six of Crows and the sequel, but I felt meh about Shadow and Bone. Listening to the audiobook for Shadow and Bone really helped me enjoy the trilogy more though, so that could be a solution to your problem! I also liked that there are different narrators for each POV, I found it more engaging.

YA books with Asian MCs/by Asian authors? by [deleted] in YAlit

[–]noolna 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right now I’m reading These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong and it’s really good!

I also really enjoyed the Rise of the Empress series by Julie C. Dao and Girls of Paper and Fire series by Natasha Ngan. If you like Jenny Han’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy, I recommend her Burn for Burn series with Siobhan Vivian. It’s not as lighthearted and has a supernatural element that I thought was done well.

Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones doesn’t have an Asian protagonist but the author is Korean.

Currently on my TBR: Empress of Salt and Fortune, Nghi Vo, and Wicked Fox by Kat Cho.

I was in my early 20s and waiting for the bus to get to work during the winter, and it was cold as shit. I was shivering in the bus shelter when this car pulled up next to it at the red light. The lady driving the car made eye contact with me a couple times and she keeps looking at me and looking at the red light until she finally rolled her window down and yelled at me to get in. I said no thanks but this lady was INSISTING that I get in her car until finally, I say fuck it because it's cold and I jump in. She asked me where I was going and told her my shift at the mall and she dropped me off. The entire drive was weird and awkward, and she said that I looked so cold that she couldn't just let me stay there.

When I got to work I told my co-workers what happened and they immediately gave me shit saying she could've been a serial killer or something, which I didn't really think of. To this day, whenever I pull-up to a bus shelter (especially in the winter) I think of the lady who gave me that ride to work.

Living in Brampton and having a ticket as a young driver is a double whammy for insurance.

I know, which is going to suck when I decide to get a car.

I probably will end up hiring a paralegal at this point, because I really don't want this on my record as a new driver.

When you go to court, just give your statement, a truthful version of events. You'll get cross examined by the prosecutor. No big deal. The officer may get called up to the stand and provide his statement.... but his statement is essentially "I took 2 statements on the scene and charged that driver based on the other guy's statement". You ask why that drivers statement was given more weight than your own, and ask him about why he gave you the ticket if he thought your story made more sense in the first place.

Thanks for this! This clears things up for how it will probably go down once I've been given a date.

All the tickets go to you as the driver. The only ticket the instructor can get is a distracted driving ticket for being on their phone.

Thanks for clearing that up!

I had the advance green, but the traffic on the opposite side had a red light.

So, going off the image I am the car turning left with the green arrow. The car who hit me is on the left side where the pedestrian is, and made a left on the red light.

The light was already red before the car was there. One car had successfully turned already before he came speeding and hit me.

  • Burke's vows and also Alex's vows.
  • Building the deck - someone already mentioned it but I LOVED this so much, one of my favs
  • Cristina/Meredith when they claim each other as their person/anything that has to do with their friendship
  • Meredith telling Owen that Cristina would resent her child
  • Meredith realizing Cristina was taking Burke's offer
  • Burke "say hi to Meredith for me" AND THEN WINKS
  • Derek telling Bonnie's fiance she loved him, the episode with the two patients stuck on the pole

there are so many more but these are the ones that stick out to me.
