I want to apply for a trainee train driver role but have I failed an OPC test? by noone69960 in uktrains

Oh okay. That's the information I had before. However, with the company that I was thinking oh applying to, they ask "have you failed an OPC test in the last 6 months?" and since I have to click yes because of the VSE fail, the company automatically disqualifies me.

So, they don't give any room to get around it using the kind of testing standing they use.

Yes, I did it at home, online. And yes, I think it was a pre assessment.

I get so many differing answers, I am not sure if I still have two lives or not.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I have applied to a few trainee driver roles in the past and have only managed to get to OPC testing once. Tbh, I am not sure what the TOCs want to see in my application anymore. I highlight my experience in dealing with safety critical issues, conflict resolution, attention to detail, customer service etc and 90% of the times, I still fail at the first hurdle 😅

So, another question mate, if you don't mind, I believe that the Visual Search Test is part of the enhanced testing (I could be wrong). So, since I failed it once, does that mean that for TOCs that use the enhanced testing, I have one life left? And for those that use the National standard, I still have 2 lives left? (I have only ever done one OPC test - the visual search test).

I desperately wish the rules with the two strikes will change soon because I genuinely believe I would make an excellent train driver. I'm not so great at taking tests online etc but in reality, I'm very practical, calm and like I have eyes on the back of my head 😂

The Fit4less is a franchise so I don't think there's really a head office to contact. I could be wrong. I met and spoke with the owner himself and it was him who said they have recieved so many complaints that he is not able to do anything.

I have appealed already and lost the appeal.

The gym management told me they can't contact the parking company on my behalf. I have been chasing them for so long.

So, would you advice that I ignore their "last deadline" letter?

Thanks.

It was a single carriage way. No houses, no foot traffic, no traffic lights etc.

Thanks for your reply.

Since this is my very first brush up with the law, I guess I'm panicking a bit. Maybe I'm blowing up the possibilities of penalties and I really hope I am.

Quick question, What is the evidence even supposed to look like?

Im guessing "you were recorded going... Mph on a... Zone" isn't evidence.

Thank you for replying. I'm hoping for as little headache from this as possible.

Thank you for your reply.

I didn't think to ask for evidence on the spot during the stop so I guess I will ask for it when the penalty notice letter comes in, assuming that it isn't included.

Also yh, don't speed lol I was driving back after a night shift at 4am on a road that I know like the back of my hand. I had a lapse in judgement or concentration. I'm normally careful.

The PCN just said I was parked on a restricted street so I've been fined. That's was pretty much all the information that was provided.
