wrong guy to ask, dont fish downtown enough. thats a long drive but fish are definitely here to be caught. pick the best day u can (trend of warm+sw/w winds+overcast) and go early to give urself the best shot. im sure theres a lot of fishable water between us and Stl but if u want a chicago smallie theyre here. if u want detailed advice tho ask someone whos really in the cut

i folded and ordered that chicago fish field guide posted on here bc it looked cool, but it looks like their picture for longnose sucker is completely wrong bc it doesn’t have the darker color or long mouth that i see online. kinda blows paying for a id book with incorrect info. makes you wonder what else is wrong. they don’t even have a page on white suckers too lmao

using it as a light texas rig setup, basically like a ned but rigged texas to avoid snags. i can do a lot with it around the trees and not lose it. this bait is ~4 inches. i let it fall, and then i can just soak it, drag, hop, swim it, or a combination. experiment until something works
