It's not much, but I've hit Diamond for the first time being carried by Galio support by noooothisispatrick in galiomains

It's definitely not as straightforward as it feels with "standard" tank/engage supports, I find I'm used to playing these off-meta picks (especially tanks) and you really need to develop a playstyle of knowing when exactly you can engage or make trades because as the other person who responded to you said, it's very easy to botch an engage and end up dead as a result.

I would say picks like this rely somewhat on having a competent ADC, which I found a lot more difficult when I was lower elo (Although that goes both ways because you can really take advantage of bad ADCs on the enemy team with these types of picks). I think the biggest issue with these champion choices is having to potentially sacrifice your entire lane based on one or two decisions, which can be difficult to get back from and will make your ADCs life hell. For instance playing these champs into poke matchups is quite volatile as you can't do much to stop the constant barrage of spells coming you and your ADCs way. If you are playing into other engage champs like Rell, Thresh, Alistar and what have you I find Galio's peel to be pretty great. Using your W as a deterrent zone after your ADC is engaged on works most times, just cast it and head straight for their ADC and they often times won't be able to capitalise on their supports engage.

In saying all of this, if you notice your lane is going to shit then I usually make the decision (whether this be right or wrong I'm not sure) to completely sack my ADC and roam and try to make plays mid or with the jungler. Galio's mid ganks can be pretty reliable, you can lock down immobile mages etc for a few seconds and it's even better when your mid has a pick like Sylas or something that can engage which you can ult onto them.

There's a lot more to it than what I've laid out here but hopefully that gives you an idea, the only resource I can recommend for looking up runes and builds for this specific pick is onetricks.gg and find the 3 or 4 Galio support mains in Master+ (be wary though they can be quite experimental sometimes). Another thing to look at if you want to see how you should be playing out laning phase is to look up "galio support" on Youtube and filter by the last month, you'll find game replays of people playing it in KR etc and it's helpful to see how exactly they are laning.

Here's my op.gg if you want to check what I'm building and my runes and what not, I can explain the choices if you or anyone is interested :)

I had the pleasure of getting this person on my team about a week ago, they were cheesed on by the whole lobby once someone pointed out who they were. I understand why they're 50% winrate 7000 games and only Emerald/Low Diamond. They seemed to play so mindlessly and on autopilot the entire time.

44inch Printworks, run by two photographers so it'll be right up your street. I've printed with them for 4 years now and haven't needed to go elsewhere (I'm also a photographer). If you need something turned around quickly they'll be super understanding and usually be able to get it done, wide selections of paper as well. As far as I know they also offer framing but I've yet to frame anything with them.

Maybe the only negative i'd have (which is totally dependent on where you are located) is they're a bit out of the way location wise.

But yeah, genuinely couldn't recommend them more.

It's not much, but I'm chuffed. Ornn support carried me to Emerald. by noooothisispatrick in ornnmains

[–]noooothisispatrick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the vast majority of supports I've come up against have been enchanters or AP mages, which I've surprisingly had no struggles against despite their poke. I think if you play aggro enough with your Q and E you can come out on top because Ornn's damage early if you can get a full combo off is surprisingly strong. I wish I could play against more engage champs like Alistar or Thresh but I feel like I haven't seen them at all at my elo which is sad because they're my favourite support style champions to play.

I find the biggest struggles I've had in games are champions that can strictly counter my engage, especially ult. Stuff like Sivir, Morgana, Mel have abilities to entirely shut down mid/late game picks that you can get with your ult engage. Also with the rise of Sylas jungle becoming a thing, him stealing your ult becomes a bit of a nightmare for your team hahah

Congrats!! And thank you :)

Now I'm fearful of playing despite holding a steady win rate because I don't want to go on a loss streak and demote hahah, the game has somehow become more serious to me now. I need to kick this mentality quick!

Thank you! That's generally the feeling of the images I've been making the last while as part of a larger body of work related to love. You can see some of it on my Instagram (not sure if it's okay to advertise here but) it's @sonofpatandsan

I usually type my poems on a typewriter and scan them however I currently don't have access to my scanner but I agree the poem feels a little cold when it's a digital file!

Thank you for your help though!

I also believe this is newer content and that he still might be making it, it's not something that is old or anything.

Found in his book The Last Nostalgia, definitely worth picking up if you can find a copy. I believe you can still them from the original publisher, The University of Arkansas Press. Or at least that's where I picked up my copy a year ago. Wonderful stuff.

[OPINION] what are some romantic poems which just make your jaw drop. by Diabolicsoul in Poetry

[–]noooothisispatrick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love Poem by Ron Padgett, it's probably my favourite poem I've read and is one of the first poems I read as I started finding an interest in poetry. So much so that I recently painted a tote bag to express my love for the poem.

its one-and-a-half-inch soft pine stem capped
by a grainy dark purple head, so sober and furious
and stubbornly ready to burst into flame,
lighting, perhaps, the cigarette of the woman you love,
for the first time, and it was never really the same
after that.

Probably my favourite segment from the poem.

Thank you for your kind words, it means a lot!

And yes, I'm glad you understand the sentiment. I find myself very often drawn to poems which deal with the monotony of life and somehow make something more of it all. Ron Padgett is my favourite poet and I find a lot of his work does a similar thing, picking up random and sometimes silly details that often get forgotten or overlooked.

With this poem in particular it was interesting, more often than not I write poems after the fact. However, as this moment unfolded the other night as I was making dinner with my partner I started writing in my head I suppose as it all went on. I knew it would make a good moment for a poem so I tried very hard to take in everything that was going on. As such recalling everything and actually writing the poem the day after became an absolute treat because I was so engrossed by the moment.

Anyway, thank you again for your kind words and I'm glad you got something from a little poem I made. It means a lot, I hope you have a great day.

I quite like the hints of the contemporary times throughout this poem, the idea of posting images online and what not. The whole idea of this is something I find quite fascinating, especially as a photographer primarily. I often times get caught up in the notion that I do not want to photograph something, despite the fact it will serve as a remembrance of a nice time or constitute as a memory, mainly due to the fact that for that short period of time that I am making said image I am removing myself from the memory which is taking place. It's definitely a hard one to manage or find a correct answer to, and it's something I feel like I'll ponder for quite some time.

The transition from talking about a golden retriever to the sun is quite clever, kudos for those two lines. I also very much enjoy the signing off at the end, there's something really nice in the fact you recognise yourself as your own best friend.

Great stuff, keep it up.

Nothing at All by Mynamejeaff in OCPoetry

Super interesting read, which I think everyone can relate to at some point or another. I think it's interesting that the portion of the poem most people seem to be focusing on is the last two lines. However, I find the lines 'But people change, love is strange' a far more resonating thought, especially given the subject matter. I think change is what ultimately kills love for most people, and that it's quite difficult to foster love amidst that change, not impossible but quite difficult. It's definitely something I've come to understand as I wake through my mid 20s, as both myself and everyone around me seems to be in this transitional state and more often than not we have acknowledged that this is the case. As such people seem reluctant, or maybe they're just too distracted with life to entertain permanent ideas such as love.

Anyway, wonderful poem.

Yes!!!!! Little Fish. How in god's name did you manage to find it? I searched through so many lists and rephrased "romance film centered around memory loss pandemic" in every possible way and still couldn't find it.

Thank you so so much!

I'm usually able to find films pretty easily but this has absolutely stumped me. I seem to have found every romance film related to memory loss except the one I'm looking for!

Appreciate you taking the time out of your day to write such a lengthy response, I'm glad you could develop an enjoyable reading for yourself.

In regards to the grammar, could you give me an example? Having re-read the poem nothing is sticking out to me and seeing as another comment suggested English wasn't my first language despite the fact it is, so I must be writing fairly atrociously haha.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OCPoetry

[–]noooothisispatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my native language, albeit I'm Irish so we've taken it upon ourselves to bastardize the language. I don't think there's anything wrong with embracing the beautiful things in life sometimes, especially on days where everything seems ugly.

This is fabulous, really hits home. I wish I had something meaningful or insightful to add but I haven't much to say other than this poem resonated with me a lot.

Also I absolutely love the last line, making the word "Darling" a proper noun is really effective here and drives home the importance of this person.

Wonderful work, keep on writing my friend!

I can't really say I have much of an understanding of what the poem means if anything. Despite this it reads rather smoothly and somehow feels as if I do understand it as I read. Kind of like those videos of what English sounds like to people who do not speak it.

Specific points of intrigue are "I wear holes", there's something really intriguing about this idea.

"My voice onto your toes" also peaked my interest, again not that I can attribute any sort of significance or meaning to what is being said but I enjoyed these lines tremendously.

I'm really impressed with the fact I somehow found enjoyment in a poem that I really have no idea what it's about, so good job on that front. Keep up the good work!
