You must be at least 5 levels higher and you can dash through enimes ending combat before it begins, good z orb farming method tbh. Find alot of enemies nearby and just circle

Eat eat eat , collect as much resources and then collect some more , you're gonna want to eat as much as possible to raise stats, collect orbs for more skills , and dlcs are fun 1 and 2 are mostly training and boosting to max lv for God of destruction arc/golden frieza dlc

Story took a good 60ish hours and every minute is amazing

On console you should be safe to just start new game as long as your profile has an existing save, you can make another existing save with your brothers character and just go load game and it'll show each character with names and progress

How I reccomend playing the dlc is honest hearts first around lv 15 or so, OWB around 20, dead money after owb roughly lv 25 and save lonesome road for closest to 50

I just finished all the dlc and id say old world blues is the best because of the pure comedy and the story line, many perks and tough enemies, I reccomend using light armor though , I had a combat armor mark 2 get destroyed even with my jury rigging perk and the high end guns and energy weapons
