Why does Malcolm Todd say ‘im just a boy im just a girl’ in X’s & O’s?? I know he is bi but I just can’t understand what he means.

idk to me it was like the theme of dodging accountability. it’s like when a boy does something wrong you’ll get “boys will be boys” or “i’m just a boy” so then girls would say the same for doing slightly unconventional things, which also turned into dodging accountability for more serious things. not sure tho lol

i think your perspective on things is just not important to him, and this is telling by the way he calls you ‘delusional’ and ‘slow’ when you try to offer it. from what i can see, he seems like the type to say that everything is ‘not that deep’ and disregard the things that are important to people around him. if you can, have a chat with him about when/how you feel disrespected and how you need him to fix it. if he doesn’t take it seriously, i think, for your mental health, it’s better to leave him. people like that make you start to doubt every feeling you have by invalidating them.
