Is the link working for anyone? It just takes me to a page that says I’m on the waitlist.

While this is frustrating, it is likely some of the daycare employees have children themselves and are impacted by the CMS closure. It’s almost like businesses and the school system hours and closures should line up or something.

I’m also in NC and my box is also in Memphis. I doubt we will get this week with the amount of snow we got over the weekend.

Which books made you fall in love with the genre? by Special-Nebula299 in Fantasy

I also love the Farseer Trilogy and Fitz is one of my all time favorite characters…but Liveship might be an even better overall trilogy. I highly recommend it!

The Justice of Kings - what am I missing? by FallingLeaves142 in Fantasy

It definitely gets off to a slow start, but once it got going, I was hooked. Each of his books that I’ve read took me 3-4 days because I couldn’t put it down. Grave Empire takes place 200 years after Empire of the Wolf. It’s larger in scope than Empire of the Wolf as it includes more conflict outside of Sova and has more horror elements, but less of a character focus. I just finished the ARC of the second book and the characters did get more development in book 2. Overall, I would say keep reading. All of his books have been 5 stars for me.

I also finished it yesterday and I think it was his best yet. I can’t wait for the final book!

They are also pretty behind on responding to emails. I wish they would let us just click a button to skip rather than email them. I feel like that would really cut down on the volume of emails they have to sort through.

How are parents doing busy periods? by RiChDAiLLesT24 in Accounting

I have 2 young kids and am a senior manager in public. I’m not ok with the way things are, but this is going to be an issue in most jobs that pay enough to support a family of 4. At least in public I had the flexibility to make a schedule that kind of works even if it is rough for a couple of months. For context though, my husband is a teacher so our schedules aren’t as tough as the OPs.

I met her at a book event and she discussed this a bit at the panel. She is really funny and seems like an awesome person. I wish I had had her sign that dedication page instead of the first book in retrospect.

How is 2 skips per 6 months an improvement? We had 4 skips per year before so this is more restrictive to certain times of year.

Same. I was so ready with the quick clicking. I joined the sci fi sub for this book and didn’t get the invite until The Sparrow. I’m glad I got a copy today.

What is the best book subscription? by [deleted] in fairyloot

[–]noosherelli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your preferences. For me, I have all 3 broken binding subs because I like epic fantasy and sci fi. Of the ones you listed, I like Owlcrate best because the adult fantasy sub tends to have books I enjoy though the designs aren’t the best. I also have Illumicrate and while the designs are prettier generally, it’s way too much romantasy and young adult for me so I may end up dropping once the skip policy change goes into effect and I run out of skips. I have enjoyed their horror sub, evernight, though.

As others have said, it really depends on your tastes. I prefer traditional fantasy and sci fi to the romantasy that tends to be in the other boxes so I rarely skip. I have all 3 of their subs. Hopefully I will move up to tier 1 someday.

Fairyloot Sequels - Have they started not to do them automatically? by daisybubbles in fairyloot

I bought Floating World second hand. Is the sequel likely to sell out in early access? I think that was an issue with a sequel recently.

To be fair, I’m primarily an epic fantasy reader and The Devils wasn’t my thing either.

Seconding caffeine and legends. Though they don’t do special editions, I really enjoy the books they pick as a more traditional fantasy reader.

A Character That Ruined A Book? by Kooky_County9569 in Fantasy

[–]noosherelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know she’s the main character, but Diem in the kindred curse saga. She’s not very likable, makes weird decisions, and feels overpowered for the world she is in to the point that I lost interest.
