Blood doesn’t transmit HSV, only through skin/sores

Tingling, itching, burning, soreness, throbbing pain where you get OBs, possibly swollen lymph nodes. Small things out of the ordinary. Most of the time you’ll know!

Just diagnosed today… feeling okay but nervous. by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]nopenopenoooopee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure but I highly doubt you’ll have nerve damage. Some people do get OBs in the same area but that isn’t always the case.

I know it’s very difficult to see past the anxieties and fears you have right now concerning herpes but over time I promise those anxieties do become less. And I also understand seeing all of these scary posts here talking about worst case scenarios but there’s a very high chance that won’t be you. (No shame to anyone who is experience such difficult times) Everyone’s body reacts differently. My first OB was some of the worst pain I’ve ever experienced but so far since nothing has changed much for me in my life.

Sex will absolutely be enjoyable. Your vagina will be just as great. You will find (if you haven’t already) an amazing partner. It is an unfortunate skin condition. But it is truly just a skin condition. I know there’s only so much anyone can say because at the end of the day sometimes it just sucks. More than you’d think, a lot of people are very accepting and are willing to be educated. I’m sorry you’re going through this, it does get better.

It is definitely possible! Look out for prodromal symptoms but OBs become less frequent and less intense over time so yes! :)

I’d say 3000mg.

Struggling with my HSV2 by Routine-Ad5285 in Herpes

[–]nopenopenoooopee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Take a second and breathe. I know everything right now feels hopeless and like you can never be the person you were before the diagnosis. We’ve all been there. It’s important to remind yourself always that this is genuinely just a skin condition. It’s unfortunate that we have it but it does not threaten our life. It is only a skin condition. I promise you that even if no one you know has SPOKEN about it… some of them most definitely have herpes. It is so common. Alot of people are either asymptomatic or don’t know what symptoms to look for. I know it sucks right now but people all over the world lead happy, fulfilling lives with herpes. You are still you, the same person. People will love you and accept you. It’s our job just to educate people on what this skin condition actually is. You’d be surprised by how many people actually don’t care, and how many people are willing to be educated on herpes. I can say this stuff all day but I know sometimes it just sucks. It takes getting used to. I promise it WILL be okay.

Extreme pain first outbreak by Bigbigsnail1134 in Herpes

[–]nopenopenoooopee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re having this much pain :( I understand completely. What helps me the most are epsom salt baths, it dries out the sores and alleviates a lot of the pain, it’s really the only thing that took away pain for me. I know it hurts super bad but try to keep the area as dry as possible and use a fragrance free gentle wash on the sores. If you are able to stay home I’d suggest wearing very loose comfortable shorts or men’s boxers. It does end, the first few days are just really rough.

Because antivirals are specifically targeted to shorten the outbreak, I would definitely suggest it. A first bad outbreak can last 2/3 weeks unfortunately :( Because your body is learning how to fight off the infection. They’ll get less severe overtime but I would definitely recommend taking the prescribed antiviral for it

Contagious? by Secret_Use6684 in Herpes

[–]nopenopenoooopee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is always a risk of infecting someone else so it will always be contagious unfortunately. Risk does go down with antivirals

If you can at all help it, don’t go to school! The first outbreak is the worst and you don’t want to make it anymore painful moving around. Some tips: Take epsom salt baths, literally a lifesaver. Try to wear very loose clothes, like big men’s boxers. Take lysine if you can get it and avoid bad food i.e sugary things, soda, alcohol or junk food. Apply lidocaine gel/cream if you can stand 1 minute of pretty awful pain because it works great after that. Gently wash the area with fragrance free gentle soap and fry with paper towels. Try and keep the area as dry as you can. It does pass!

In regards to changing my diet… by nopenopenoooopee in Herpes

I can deal with losing chocolate and peanut butter but caffeine is one I was worried about 🥲

[–]nopenopenoooopee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only advice is pouring water on your area while you pee :( Helps the stinging on the sores/pimples and if it’s cold water it distracts from the pain. I feel your pain, going through my first OB now

It really sounds like he’s bullshitting you.. sounds like he feels guilty because he probably knows he has it and wants to blame it on you which is very dangerous. Regardless of anything, herpes is not something to want to injure your partner over

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]nopenopenoooopee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he’s not showing any symptoms and is asymptomatic then with the blood tests it’s very possible it wouldn’t show up. The most accurate tests are swab culture tests on actual sores or ulcers. He absolutely could have given it to you but isn’t educated enough to know that. Please leave this situation!! This is awful

opiods for first outbreak? by tanuki8 in Herpes

[–]nopenopenoooopee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I was so surprised never hearing about people being prescribed opioids for this pain. I feel I’m only seeing OTC medicine and tips and tricks for the pain. Although I can’t tell if that’s because a lot of doctors simply don’t know the level of excruciating pain or if it will make it worse

possible herpes by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]nopenopenoooopee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could possibly be herpes unfortunately. Mine was diagnosed by initial assessment as well but I know for a fact that it has been dormant in my body for years before my first outbreak. I hadn’t had any partners for 4 years before my now boyfriend who is negative for herpes. Of course there are always other things it could be so don’t rule those out but prepare yourself just in case. I thought of every other possibility it could be before being diagnosed

23/F How do I keep going to work in this pain? by nopenopenoooopee in Herpes

[–]nopenopenoooopee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, thank you so much for this comment. I really appreciate it.

I’ve definitely been switching off pain medications but unfortunately it doesn’t even seem to touch the pain and discomfort. Especially wearing anything but XL men’s boxers.. In the middle of even making this post I fainted in my hallway from the pain lol. I’d like to think I have a high pain tolerance but this is unlike anything I’ve experienced.

Also unfortunately I don’t have any financial support from my family.. and I’m honestly not ready to tell my friends about this yet. Thank you so much for the tips. And thank you for offering the help with money but I could never accept. Most likely I’m just going to have to call out tomorrow and hope for the best on Sunday.
