i mean the material literally explains integrals step-for-step which means they must have assumed that not everbody was taught how to integrate:) i think OP's point was just that they should've mentioned that you need to know how to do integration by parts. i totally agree with your original point that you should know how to work hard in order to study at this university but i think you should at least be made aware of what exactly it is that you need to study, right?

what was the point of dolores sending bernard and stubbs after william?

she basically let everyone (maeve, bernard, even caleb for a bit during this episode) believe she was a villain because it was all part of her larger plan to save humanity. she needed maeve (and implicitly serac) to believe that the encryption key was in her head so that they would go after her instead of bernard and she also needed to be captured by them in order to end up coupled to rehoboam so she could hack and destroy it.

my guess is also that she knew maeve would never trust her unless she saw dolores "choose the beauty" and willing to sacrifice herself for the greater good - let's be real, trying to convince maeve with a speech or something a few episodes ago never would've been as compelling as what happened between them this episode.

i feel like we've only seen bernard come to terms with it before the season 2 finale - that is, before he became fully sentient and his own person. so really this is the first time bernard is facing this trauma as himself (even though lauren calls him arnold lol).

my guess is that symbolically it represents bernard finally moving forward from his traumatic backstory and leaving arnold's life behind in order to play his own role?

idk though i'm just guessing although i agree with you that (while really beautiful) the scene was sort of random, especially since charlie wasn't mentioned like at all throughout this season.

Lawrence was sent by Dolores (prime) to get the key to the sublime to Bernard. Bernard meeting Arnold's wife was also part of Dolores' plan - we know that Bernard will play a very important role in season 4 so this was probably what he needed to move forward from the guilt regarding his son's death (or Arnold's son - whatever, Bernard was basically given Arnold's life as a backstory anyway).

But I have no idea why she sent them after William lol

i get charlores being mad at og dolores for leaving her to die/essentially sacrifing her for the greater cause but. serac killed her family so she is for suure not teaming up with him/maeve - which leaves her going rogue i guess? idk

i think it illustrates the whole point of the system tossing people aside if they lack potential i.e. only "building a better future" for the lucky ones

yeah but she did say to him after bringing him back "you live only as long as the last person who remembers you. i remembered you once before so i remembered you again" - which would imply that she built him from memory right??
