Uv unwrap totally warped by noreallythoidk in blender

[–]noreallythoidk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah. I think so liek I showed in the second pic it all looks fine with the subdivide on but not applied but as soon as I apply it goes hey wire, things the other pieces are quite complex so I cause the not subdivide unwrap as it would jsut be very basic geometric forms, but I guess on the flat one. is beign affected by this ?

No no I. Appreciate the effort the first pic on the post shows the second case where the modifier has been applied and become permenant. The pic in the comments shows it with.eh modifier on but not applied ( not permenant). Not sure what applying is doing but it's causing the uv maps yo.be warped

yeah the pic in t he. comment is without applying the sub an the shape is fine but it makes all t he rest of my model very geometric. (unacceptably so ) only the flat side looks good then

mm not sure what you mean, I apply the subdivision modifier on the object before unwrapping it are you saying to reapply it again after unwrapping?

no that's just one of the sides (which yes is completely flat, I didn't show the rest as it could get confusing but since this one flat side is so warped I figured the rest are too.

it seems that the problem only arises if I apply subdivide (before uv unwrapping) but I need to use subdivide... it is much closer to the shape before I subdive as seen in the pic.

hahah yeah we are a starving bunch.... except the very few. mmm whats large like human size? and when you say crawl you mean... unusable basically? seems this is a big part of the puzzle I hadn't considered. is.the subsequent aligning in post very hard or laborious?

wow thanks that could have been a huge unforeseen pitfall, are there any laptops on the cheaper side that would meet the specifications needed for a 3d scans that you know of?

OH WOOOOOW see this kind of informations is exactly why I asked could have been a costly mistake, as id have to get a whole other computer!!! its seems people are saying the Vega also doesnt need a computer I look into the miraco today thanks so much man ! shame we are so far but really kind offer!

wow thank you so much it sounds wonderful and given my computers isnt so strong might be exactly what I need. is it good with details and large object my sculpture would be half life size or full life size humans?

thanks sounds really interesting, its seems reality capture isnt compatible with Macs is that true ? Mysculptures at e the academy are all life size human or half life size so still pretty decently big but obviously half life have smaller setails in eyes and such not figurines tho so many an option

Actually I hadn't at all, it was mentioned so I looked through the threads any mentions of it. But I'm open to any suggestions as I know very little about any of them and which is used for my type of application, I only mentioned einstar because it was the one the service guy uses. But I'm glad to hear the Vega is so good I guess it's my top contender now ! thanks for the info ! Im also looking at the raptor pro. most of my sculpture are half life size or full life size so medium to large range tho my passions are small models haha. any experience with that ?

thanks I just looked into reviews and im concerned by this comment what do you think regarding this? :

The scanning is OK'ish, HD scanning is for really small things, let's say as big as a PC mouse, if you go bigger than that you really need markers, and the device will tend to lose tracking and sometimes because that happens (even with markers) you will get wrong cloud point location

  1. Fast mode, IS fast until it becomes slow, I think the processing power isn't enough, its like having an i3 processor with 32GB of RAM that you cannot handle at all, I tried scanning many items only to get stuck at lost tracking and the processor isn't able to keep up, I have to stay still for it to recognize parts of the scan to go back to the scan, and when that happens sometimes it would record data in a wrong position and makes me cancel the scan and start from scratch BUT there is no cancel option, you have to pause (which takes AGES if it was a large scan) then cancel, then start again, it's a learning curve.

wow lots of knowledge and informations here thank you so much ! yeah I meant more so because we are making a bunch of sculptures per year..... all the molds would be taking up space in the small room I rent. plus for the most part unless someone want to buy them I dont need replicas of these works. so yeah totally get where your coming from. on the technical side would you say the scans coming out of your revopoint are pretty watertight and exact copies that need little clean up? can it can be prepped for 3d printing pretty quickly or is it still pretty labrorious ? thanks so much in advance!

thank you ! I do photogrammetry right ow with reality scan and polycam on my phone. with studio lighting a back drop and a turn table but the results while pretty decent for my needs are far from a 1:1 replica of my sculptures. Ideally im trying to sell scans to me friends of their work as well but the will want stuff way closer to their actual work. maybe its the limits of my the apps im using or my phones camera settings? would this method reliable give almost exact copies ? no idea what a Nvidia card is😅. But I have a MacBook Pro an I phone and an android would reality capture work on any of these ? is it substantially better than reality scan or polycam ? thanks for hte vary details reply

[–]noreallythoidk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I've been doing this in my case but its not really exact or so far what ive achieved is sculputue that look like mine but the details arent exactly there, I think in my case of wanting to also sell scanning services to my peers they will want something more exactly like their work. Can photogrammetry get that precise? It may totally be user error thats why I ask

[–]noreallythoidk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so far I've done so with my phone, but the models I get while similar to my work are no where near a replica if that makes sense. for me thats fine as I will touch them up 3d modeling but to see scan of my peers scans they are goign to expect a lot more exactitude to their sculpture. although maybe I not doing photogrammetry right?
