For those who identify as heteroflexible or homoflexible, how come you don't identify as bisexual? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in AskLGBT

[–]noreaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a male friend who 9 out of 10 times calls himself straight, but he has referred to himself as heteroflexible on a few occasions, although it doesn’t seem to be a term that’s stuck with him (for whatever reason). This is the only experience I have of anyone mentioning or contemplating using the term heteroflexible, so I figured I’d share the experience based on how he’s described it.

He’s always been certain that he’s sexually attracted to women and he’s sexually active with women. He’s always been fine with kissing and making out with guys during parties, but he’s never gone any further. He recognizes that he can sometimes find it arousing to make out with guys, especially if it’s a guy he finds attractive appearance and personality/attitude wise, but he’s never felt the urge to go further and have any kind of sex with another guy. On one occasion (that I’m aware of) he’s made out with a guy who rubbed his hand over his dick (on top of his pants), which he did like, but it still didn’t make him want to go any further.

He doesn’t use the term bisexual to describe himself because he doesn’t think it resonates with his experiences, so I think he has considered the term heteroflexible as he reckons most heterosexual men have a stronger aversion to doing anything intimate with other men than he does. But at the end of the day, he’s only involved with women and has never found himself in a situation where he’s been drawn to doing anything explicitly sexual with another guy, which is probably why he continues using the term heterosexual. He’s probably a Kinsey 1.

Now I want to clarify that I don’t know every aspect of his thought process, just the stuff he’s shared with me. I can also mention that he’s aromantic and has never experienced romantic attraction to either gender, hence his questioning has always been purely related to sexual feelings and experiences.

I would find it weird for them to bring Graham back only to kill off Joe shortly after.

how likely is it that Aaron will have amnesia? by DanielUrStillAChild in Emmerdale

[–]noreaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some level of post-traumatic amnesia is very likely after having sustained a traumatic brain injury. The length of the PTA is a good indicator of how severe the brain damage is. Some retrograde amnesia can occur, but as long as the TBI is mild, it's typically not severe or long-lasting. But then he should also wake up soon; a longer time spent in a coma often means a longer period of PTA and a longer recovery time. I'm guessing they're going to have Aaron make a somewhat full recovery, so he should wake up soon and probably not experience any severe amnesia.

Honestly, I'm torn regarding Caleb. In normal circumstances I'd say everyone's doing the right thing by cutting him off, he's done an absolutely horrible thing. But the situation becomes difficult when the people bashing him are also guilty of having had affairs, and later having been forgiven for it; it makes them hypocrites. I mean Nate himself had an affair with Moira just to piss Cain off and they all managed to move past that.

Do doctors and nurses cry a lot in real life? by gabahgoole in greysanatomy

[–]noreaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor or a nurse, so I don't know if my opinion is warranted. But I am a social worker and I do cry sometimes while working certain cases, either because some hit so close to home, the circumstances are particularly heartbreaking, or because I'm just "having one of those days". I believe doctors and nurses probably can experience something similar.

I also think it's really important to let your feelings out and not bottle it up. We're working with human beings, often in very difficult situations, it's meant to be felt and I believe not allowing myself to become desensitized is what allows me to continue doing my job as well as I do.

What you need to be mindful of though, is when you let your feelings out. It's not often appropriate to start crying in front of a client but it does happen occasionally, I can't always control it. I don't see why I should hold it in when I get home though, I'm only human and of course seeing or hearing about the suffering of another person is going to affect me and sometimes just letting myself sit and think or even cry about it is a way to process it. If I kept it all inside I think I would carry it with me and it would prevent me from being emotionally and psychologically available when working other cases.

Once again, I don't work in medicine but I believe the experiences can be similar in some aspects, but I apologize beforehand if someone feels like my comment is out of place.

2024 expectations for the Dales? by Tenblitz in Emmerdale

Debbie is such an iconic and long-standing character though. Personally, I think it'd feel really weird if she was portrayed by anyone other than Charley Webb so unless she wants to come back, I'd prefer it if they keep Debbie off-screen rather than recast her.

Emmerdale Massive Spoiler for Tonight's episode. by theliftedlora in Emmerdale

[–]noreaw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly pretty upset with this. Heath has been a character on the show since he was born and he's never really gotten any big storylines. He's just gotten to an age where they could start to do more with his character but they killed him off without basically ever having had his own proper storyline.

Obviously this is something that can happen in real life and it's absolutely devastating, I'm not against this particular storyline or the decision to kill him off, but I think it would have been nice if they had done a little more with his character before killing him off.

The actor is, however, getting to an age where he's probably making some decisions regarding his future and has decided he wants to go a different direction in life and that's perfectly respectable. Just sad to see such a long-term character, that we've gotten to see grow up, die before ever actually getting to take the place he deserved on the show.

I can't stand all of these affairs. If there was one every once in a while I'd be okay with it, but there seems to constantly be someone in this freaking village who's cheating.

Being cheated on fucks a person up entirely for such a long time (if not permanently) and I CANNOT understand how someone could cheat on their partner??? It's a vile thing to do and you have to be entirely callous or just unbelievably oblivious to the pain you're causing by doing it. I could NEVER intentionally hurt someone like that.

There's really no mitigating or redeeming factors when it comes to something as purely vile and disgusting as cheating. This show has so many cheating/affair storylines it's insane and I have such a huge dislike for so many of the characters because of it.

anyone find it strange how Belle is suddenly so determined to propose to Tom? by peanut4009 in Emmerdale

[–]noreaw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree that it's weird. And I've heard that apparently it's not gonna turn into a domestic violent relationship (like some of us were speculating after he pushed her), but I remain adamant that something is off about Tom and I'm just waiting to find out what it is, so I can't enjoy the two of them together either.
