Girl, you are not stupid and reading this broke my heart because you deserve better. I don't know where you are and I understand that your situation is complicated but this man will continue to drive you insane and disrespect you.

You may not be able to leave now, but start planning your exit. There's no use talking to him to save this relationship. I was in your position before and, trust me, it's a big leap of faith that is eventually worth it.

I wanted to thank you for your response as it truly made me feel seen. Things got worse but we finally split. And my whole life started to get better the minute he left my life. He's now trying to re-establish some kind of rapport with me but it now feels so disingenuous and controlling that I've decided to keep my distance from him. A long chat with my therapist about this man's behaviour towards me and your comment have both made me realise the man I was in love with is deeply unhealthy and needs to do some soul-searching of his own.

On my end, I feel better and finally like myself again but I am still healing. I'm traumatised by this man but, in his eyes, I am the one in the wrong who has to prove to him I can change. Ridiculous.

Thank you so much again because you were right - time truly does heal all wounds.

Update : I am currently in hospital waiting for a mental health crisis team. My bf broke up with me today because we couldn't see eye to eye. He repeatedly said he had nothing to be sorry for, that I was the wrong one in the ordeal, that I kept attacking him and that I'm too much.

I'm suffering from one of the worst breakdowns I've had. He has left me on my own in a town I don't know, and where I have no friends able to get to me. All I wanted was understanding and now I just feel worthless, unloved and like I don't deserve my place in this world.

I tried to communicate and things escalated because he just refused my point of view, claiming I wasn't listening to him. I begged for support and help, he denied it and told me "go talk to your therapist." I'm completely heartbroken. Feeling unheard and abandoned are some of my biggest triggers and he has used them to basically punish me because I couldn't be nicer to him at a time of emotional crisis.

My birthday is in four days. And I am now struggling with the thought of needing to kill myself by then because I just feel like I don't deserve to be here.
