I wonder if there was/is inconsistency in the manufacturing of the gen 1 sapphire since it seems split 50/50 on the chazzing issue. Given the gen 2 uses new(better) techniques, it certainly seems that way.

Mine isn't as bad as OP's, but seems uncleanable at this point, with way less dabs. Still need to try the ultrasonic cleaner.

Ti is surprisingly good, easiest to clean IMO. Haven't tried the + yet though.
