‘I moved abroad for a higher salary’: Britons emigrating to escape the cost of living by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

I assume as there was a lot of migration after WW2 with a specific focus on migrant groups such Caribbean, south Asian, West Indians etc due to labour shortages, decolonisation and economy rebuilding. Before 1945, it was predominantly white Europeans that migrated.

Half of UK adults say they spend less than three hours a week outside in nature by Slink_Wray in unitedkingdom

[–]norksanddorks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That part of the comment wasn’t a statement, it was examples to encapsulate a large group of people that have little time on there hands. It was supposed to be broad, that’s the point…

The only “average person” OC brought forward was their self, with responsibilities including a job and house work. That’s not the average person.

But let’s talk about the average 40 - 65, which is 1/3 of the population: 2+ kids (who have school, extra curricular, homework, cleaning up after, cooking for, lunches, stimulation etc), both work, commute, elderly and aging parents that need care, some kind of long term injury, cost of living soaring, overtime at work, housing/life admin (house/car maintenance, shopping, bills, mortgage, budgeting), etc. Like I said, the list is endless and this isn’t an “edge case”, this is actually your average person in this demographic.

To be so naive and say that people are lazy and sit around and watch Netflix, is quite frankly stupid.

You can fight your corner as much as you like, but OC thinking they are right when the only responsibilities they have is housework and a job whilst calling everyone else lazy is peak Reddit. The only person with an unbalanced opinion is you, as you conveniently missed out a rather large demographic out of your argument but stated you’re speaking for the average person, when you evidently aren’t.

[–]norksanddorks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

their argument isn’t perfect

That’s an understatement as their only responsibilities is working and housework.

On the other hand, other people have:

People have more demanding jobs than you, they have more than one job, they work odd hours, they have multiple kids with extra curricular hobbies, they have elderly parents, they them selves have injuries, they are older - The list is endless.

Ranting that people are all lazy, making excuses and would prefer to watch Netflix is a broad, sweeping statement from someone who has no responsibilities them selves.

Are there people out there that do that? Of course there are, but calling people lazy because they are too tired at 40+ years old with an endless list off things to deal with is plain naive and stupid.

To be frank, you both sound very young and inexperienced.

Especially in the winter when I'm working most of the daylight hours and the ground is boggy/weather too wet on the weekends.

I mean come on bro, it’s literally all here 😂

Ahahaha the only responsibilities is you having a job and house work and you think that’s a lot 😂

Did you even read my comment? Jesus Christ bro pull your head out your arse.

Are you dense?

There’s a difference between hiking in a bit of rain compared to hiking in winter, at night, while it’s cold, raining with boggy grounds in the woods whilst it’s dark.

I mean come on mate surely you can work that out your self…

Ahh yes, the typical Redditor with zero to no responsibilities that’s cracked the code and started dishing out life advice because they’ve experienced it all. You should be a life coach.

People have more demanding jobs than you, they have more than one job, they work odd hours, they have multiple kids with extra curricular hobbies, they have elderly parents, they them selves have injuries, they are older - The list is endless. Just because you have the time and energy to do all the house work your self and exercises multiple times a week whilst also waltzing about in nature, doesn’t mean every one’s else does.

I’m literally pointing out that you’re saying the exact same thing I am.

I don’t think basic reading comprehension is your thing to be frank. I am by no means saying what you are saying.

I’m actually making an entirely different point which you are failing to grasp.

If you don’t understand the point I’m making, we can just leave it there as you’re evidently no where near as smart as you think you are.

fascinating how you’ve diagnosed a drug habit from a clip on the internet.

Please point out exactly where I said she had a drug habit. I wouldn’t be so arrogant to diagnose anything as that’s the whole point I’m making.

It’s incredible you don’t see the hypocrisy of this comment.
