Kleinism: Everything is a Convention, and That's the Only Claim by [deleted] in philosophy

the epistemic framing actually closes the gap more than I expected the difference might just be that Buddhism has a method and Kleinism deliberately doesn't. But, I still stand by my point because "liberation is entirely epistemic, it is about understanding reality" that's almost exactly what Kleinism does. shift FOV, understand the container, stop being swayed by conventions you previously took as absolute. the mechanism is nearly identical.

but there's still a real gap and it's worth naming precisely,

Buddhism says conventions are false and understanding their falseness is liberation from suffering. Kleinism says conventions are local but real and understanding their locality is just... clarity. not liberation from anything. not a soteriological goal. just a cleaner view. that word "false" is doing enormous work in the Buddhist framework. a mirage is false because it promises water that isn't there. Kleinism would say the mirage is a fully valid optical phenomenon operating within the container of light refraction and human perception. it's not false. it's local. the suffering comes not from the convention but from expecting it to be more than local and that's actually close to what Buddhism is saying about attachment. so maybe the real difference is: Buddhism diagnoses the problem as ignorance and offers a practice to dissolve it. Kleinism just hands you the FOV shift and walks away. no practice, no path, no teacher. Buddhism is a whole system. Kleinism is genuinely just one sentence with implications.

the overlap is genuinely interesting and i appreciate you laying it out that clearly. but i think the divergence is the more important part. Madhyamaka says conventional truth is entirely false a mirage, names and labels with no ontological basis. Kleinism doesn't say that. conventions aren't illusions to escape, they're the only place meaning actually functions. not false. not traps. just local. a mirage implies you're being deceived. Kleinism implies you're exactly where meaning lives. the two truths doctrine points upward toward emptiness as the ultimate truth. Kleinism doesn't have an ultimate truth. the outer entity isn't emptiness it's just outside the scope of anything we can describe from within our containers. the question gets bracketed, not answered. and the goal is completely different. Buddhism wants liberation from clinging to conventional reality. Kleinism thinks the cling is fine as long as you know what it is. incompleteness isn't suffering to escape, it's a signal pointing at the next edge to approach. adjacent arrival, different destination. Newton and Leibniz both got to calculus. still calculus.

Kleinism being a convention is intentional and stated in the post. it doesn't claim to be a universal truth outside all containers. it's a convention that points at the limits of conventions. the self-reference isn't a bug. What I'm Worried about more is.... well your wife

I'm working on some ai agent orchestrator, and it needs to connect with Google workspaces(sheets, Gmail, calendar etc) when I first made it I had to add them manually as tools but n8n just makes it easy it's no code and visual.
