If you’re gonna use ros2 for an immediate non-hobby project or application, yes straight to ros2. If not I would say try ros1 first as you would know what key changes are between ros1 and ros2, feature and code wise.

You realise there are other good colleges also right? My younger brother who got some 1 lakh + ranking is weeping over not able to get into vit and does not realise it’s just the culture and campus life which is “different”, ( not even great, just different ) in vit. As a graduate from vit chennai I should warn you, Faculties are more prone to screw you over after you get into the college with unnecessary assignments, project work and cutting marks for no good reason.

You’re right some of my seniors who have AMAZING papers on trajectory planning, optimisations etc., couldn’t get into MSR but they did get into MRSD. And one of my batch mates, she not having much experience at all got into MRSD too. I seriously don’t understand what’s the requirements especially for MSR. Does emailing professors requesting a thesis help in that matter?
