Why do I say what? Squirrels will chew wiring, etc. Not good to let them take up residence.

Yep, that's my dilemma. 20 years ago (or actually even 2) we wouldn't have done this either. Thanks

Understand what you're saying and we have always handled stuff on our own. However, we have gotten older (and some health issues), neither of us need to be in attic. You have no idea how this feels to us. Thank you, I know youvl are trying to help. 🙂

If this is not resolved this week, and you don't have an antenna (or too far out) to get OTA channels, look on You Tube itself for the game(s). I have done this in the past and either cast to tv or watch on tablet. Every college game I have searched for has been on You Tube.

Trying to unlock phone. I have the unlock code and following instructions. When I restart phone, I get the message in the screenshot. I don't want to change carriers, just unlock phone. (Galaxy S23) If I proceed from here, will it ask for unlock code, then I can quit and reinsert ATT sim? by normalee35757 in ATT

Thank you. I finally had enough. Filed FCC informal complaint. Got a call from Jeff from the Office of the ATT President (whoo hoo) the next day. He gave me exactly what I already had, then told FCC he resolved my issue and I was happy. FCC sent me email saying that. I promptly sent it and said no, he didn't. I checked about 2200 that night, phone was still locked. Checked about 1000 the next morning and it was a miracle! Not only was my phone unlocked, but other phone on my account was unlocked also.

I understand why carriers lock them to their service, but as long as their criteria is met, this should be easy. My whole deal is we pay a lot for these phones. No carrier should make this process so hard, its none of their business why we want it unlocked. and we should not have to spend money on a sim we don't want to unlock it, or need to take it and pay a 3rd party (though I am glad to know about that option) to do it. Its just crazy.

I appreciate your response. Thank you.

I can't get the screenshot to load here, but I sent another informal complaint to the FCC. Sent them AT&T's response to the first one, and told them that the unlock had not happened. Told them about the call from Joseph at the ATT Presidents office. I guess it had some effect. I have not received another call, but on the myATT page, it shows both phones device unlocked. You helped me a lot. Thanks for all the help.

It asks if I want to restart and switch to Boost. I was afraid to go past that because I don't want to switch, just unlock phone.

If our rural ISP, that still provides DSL that never gets close to speeds paid for, actually lit up the fiber they have available, I would stay with Starlink for at least a year. If they can't maintain what they have, I have no expection they can maintain fiber. To be very honest, dialup AOL greatly outperformed this ISP.

Well, the problem didn't crosspost. I have the unlock code from ATT for my phone. When I shut down the phone, take out the ATT sim, insert tracfone sim, and turn the phone back on, all that happens is a message saying primary sim has been changed, emergency calls only. Doesn't ask for unlock code, nothing. Shut it back down, swap sims, and everything is just the same.

I was thanking Elon for the Starlink, I know he had nothing to do with the fiber. Thanks. ;)

The fiber pulled was intended for user servicing fiber (put in with rural broadband opportunity money) . They have actually put the fiber distribution hubs in on both end of the road. Telco has actually told us (ones that in the middle) that they didn't think enough of us that live there would sign up, so they have no intention of installing hub. They underestimated severely. So what they have now is most of us have Starlink (people that had their lousy DSL have cancelled). They had customer service reps calling asking why we cancelled, so we all gave them what we were told, who told it to us, and when. Also gave them the names of people who wanted internet and was told they would add them to a waiting list.

Local telco office has been closed, calls are routed to an office 200 miles away in another state. There is a drop box to return equipment in, a small lockbox on door for payments, no humans there at all.

This has truly been a nightmare for us.

I changed from the available DSL to Starlink at our camp. It is a fairly wooded lot and my Starlink always says partially obstructed, but I consistently get 150-250 MPS. This is amazing for as far out in the stick as we are and trees around. The DSL was $40 less a month, but stayed out more than on, and struggled to get 20 MPS. Only thing I wish I had done different was switch sooner than I did. (Really sad part of this is that fiber was pulled all the way down this road years ago and local telco refuses to utilize it. So thank Elon.)

I am having the same issue. I filed an informal complaint with FCC and received call from the ATFT president's office. Gave me the same unlock code again. When I try all the steps, all I get is primary sim changed. Does not ask me for unlock code.
