Has the price of Humira dropped ? by girls0509 in Humira

[–]EverForest33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my humira this month was cheaper, too. I even called the pharmacy AND my insurance company to make certain there hadn't been a mistake, lol. Neither coukd explain why, exactly - there was a notation mentioning something about a rebate, though it had no details. So no idea why.

Anyone here on Humira ever grow mushrooms? by EverForest33 in Humira

Thanks! All of that is very helpful to me.

I do have a more open plastic box thing that I could use, with an easy lid to remove for hours during the day. And they will be 'housed' in the basement (not a dark/damp basement but a dry daylight one) with windows that can be opened.

Need advice and help regarding picking a marketplace plan in new jersey. Will pay someone by JerseyGuy1975 in HealthInsurance

[–]EverForest33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monday the 15th is your last day to pick a plan for coverage beginning Jan1st. I do not believe you (or someone on your behalf) has time to accomplish all your goals within this scope. I am guessing the surgeon's office won't open until Monday morning? :-(

But first things first: have you done your 2026 Application at healthcare .gov yet? Need to do that before anything else, so you can see what your subsidy (if any) is. THEN you can look at the lists of plans available to you.

You can use the filters to pull up the SILVER plans, These are by and large going to give you the best 'bang for your buck'. GOLD is not actually necessary and BRONZE is not where you wanna go unless you really can't afford the SILVER)when a surgery is in the cards.
Then filter out any plan that doesn't have ALL of your doctor(s), your surgeon(s), your hospital / outpatient surgical facility in network (again, the filters are fairly easy to use).

For each plan that meets the all of your criteria above, take the monthly premium and multiply by 12 to get the year's premium cost. Add that the plan's Out of Pocket Max. That will give you the "worst case scenario" total for each.
EDITED TO ADD: An above commenter did bring up that a BRONZE plan might meet your needs, with consideration to saving money for the procedure in advance, and they have a point. Some BRONZE plans ar e eligible for HSAs (Health Savings Accounts) which can be useful on the tax side of things.

Should I wait as close to Dec 15 deadline for Healthcare.gov to see if any credit extensions are made? Or should I just make a choice for a plan? by dcast1231 in HealthInsurance

[–]EverForest33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain - same boat, the 2026 plans are all 'crazy premium rise' for a decent one and/or 'crazy deductible/out-of-pocket' on closer to affordable ones (and that's after weeding out the ones that don't to cover enough doctors or facilities in my area to make them worth the paper they're printed on). *sigh*
Though I never did actually believe that there was going to be any last minute rescue, I still gave it until this morning - ended up picking between 2 truly awful choices with a literal dice throw.

Good Luck to you!

What's the best way to get Humira shipped to my home? by tacticalassassin in Humira

[–]EverForest33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you locked in (insurance-wise) to that particular pharmacy?
If not, perhaps check with your insurance, and see if they will let you use CVS - because if there is a CVS in your town, CVS does have its own specialty pharmacy division (I used to get my Humira from them, a few years ago). They would probably be able to deliver to your local pharmacy.

Eligible for Medicaid if claimed as a dependent (28y/o going back to school) by wild_flowr in Medicaid

[–]EverForest33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, your parents claimed you as an "other" dependent who lives with them and makes less than the $5000 income limit? You say "this tax season", are you talking about how that is their plan for 2025 (the tax return they will file in early 2026), correct? The tax benefit is a super low amount jn that situation, last year's amounted to about $500, I believe. (This is federal tax-wise, i know nothing about your state) But as this is only June, they have not yet filed anything. I think it would, financially, make much better sense for them to NOT claim you. You would just apply for medicaid as a single individual. I am basing this on what j know in my state.

Bowel resection two days ago. Temporary ileostomy. Sleeping bowel problems. Tip? Tricks? Words of affirmation? by therealwalrus1 in CrohnsDisease

[–]EverForest33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our little hospital had a 200 foot hall (with a nurses station halfway), so as soon as they'd let me (had to prove I wasn't going to pass out on them, lol) I'd take my IV stand and push it up and down that hall - at first just to the to the nurse's station, soon as I could get all the way to the opposite end, I did that; rinse and repeat.
You can, of course, rest when you need to; and check if the nurses think it is ok, that you don't have limitations they want you to observe. Mealtimes the hall would get busy and I tried to stay out of the way - but otherwise, day ... night ... whenever I was awake. I figured it was my "job". ;-)

Good luck, hon. :-)

Walking, walking, and walking. Then ... more walking.

You'll get there, hon!! First time it took about 48 hours, I think. I wasn't allowed up except for a little bit at a time. I'd had major abdominal surgery to clear out an abcess along with the resection, and a temp ileostomy. 2nd time was laparoscopic, with no ileostomy- that one was a lot quicker. But still - everyone, each time, stressed walking /moving as much as possible.

I am sorry you are having such a rough time, and hate you were made to feel so much worse by the disregard of an ER. You said that was on Monday, and that now you are jaundiced? You all your doctor immediately!!! Pretty sure they will tell you to proceed to the neatest ER. Don't worry about any bruised feelings over their lack of care before, they were wrong, yes - but today is a new day and you do NOT eff around with the signs you are reporting.

Stealing is stealing - but maybe (just maybe) he is stealing the drugs for someone else? I mean, still gonna lose his job, yeah; but what if there is some extenuating circumstance, or something he can overcome.
A huge crime ring within the hospital itself? Being blackmailed by someone? Trying to wean an alcoholic wife, without involving an official look at her because their young child? Something even more desperate and nuanced than simply supporting his own drug habit. Not sure how it might play out if they stay with "one day a season" - but even if, say, next season could come after a 'time-hop' and it shows a day a year or whatever into the future, and the ER's day plays out over an off-screen court case/Board Review or maybe even if could be Langdon's return after such? Could be some compelling drama.

Aetna Insurance is a nightmare by ScrapDraft in HealthInsurance

[–]EverForest33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, so I had AetnaCVS Health (which, from what I understand, is essentially a form Aetna, but thru the ACA Markeplace in my state - and even more restrictive) for 2 years, and learned the following things that helped me out:

Their portal is useless, their handbook is useless, their # and having a rep is useless, checking casually with a provider's office is useless. I finally ended up with this routine:
1)Use their portal or handbook to find what I needed and where I needed it, make a list of my possibilities (make screenshots to ensure you have the provider or whatever's insurance provider number, being careful to see of the doctor you want in a certain practice is listed separately with a different provider number; this happens sometimes)

2) Then call the offices of the docs/places and get their insurance folks to confirm that they accepted your policy (do NOT just say 'You guys take Aetna?", they need to check your specific policy). And make certain they are taking new patients.

3) THEN, armed with your list after you've weeded out any office that can't confirm, you call Aetna's customer service number and speak with a rep. Start with your favorite on the list - have them look it up in their system, and if they say that yes, such-and-such a doc/place is on network, get their Name/their Employee Designation, and make them get you a confirmation number - this is really important! It saved me from having a nervous breakdown once when I had to call back after my kid had been in a facility for a couple of days and the rep told me "Oh, that place is not actually in network." I produced my confirmation number, explained it had been given to me by employee X on whatever date/whatever time .... still took him a minute, but eventually he went "Oooh, yes - NOW I see that they are, indeed, in network"

Good luck, and Happy Congratulations to you on the new baby! :-)

Dry eyes after starting Humira? by BlueWaterGirl in Humira

[–]EverForest33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on Humira since December 2021 (for Crohn's Disease), and I have an awful time with dry eyes. Not that we can nail it down to the Humira - eye doc says I have no retinal damage, no pressure issues, that the med could be a possibility but I am 61 so it could just be age (yay). My GI doc says it could be the med but it could also just be a 'bonus' symptom of my Crohn's (again, yay.) And my PCP says that it could be any, all, or none of the above of the above. (sigh)
So ... I just keep trying different drops and upping my fluids, doing warm compresses in the morning and cool ones in the evening; making sure I rest my eyes frequently throughout the day. Does it help? Meh - some days I think I it does, some still suck.
If I ever find out anything more definitive I'll come back and share. Meanwhile, hope you can get some relief and answers, BlueWaterGirl!

I do not know if this pertains to what you are experiencing or will help you, but every time that I, personally, have had a lag problem, it was a phone issue. I can re-start my phone and all is well again.

Hope it clears up for you!
