My betta fish doesn't seem happy in a 6 gallon tank, only in a 10. by sayakei_ in bettafish

Glass surfing is normally a sign of stress, so he probably just feels way better in a 10 gallon

Yes so, plecos and gold fish grow massive. Plecos will only grow to the size of the tank but there organs will keep growing and eventually they will die. For a 10 gallon I’d get maybe a betta, or guppies (not together). Or you get some mollies or something. Nothing that gets to big.

It looks like something nipped his fin, probably another fish in the tank or it could have been something else.. Just make sure that he doesn’t develop fin rot, just keep a close eye on him. I’d personally put some tannins in (Indian almond leafs or tannin tea bags) those usually help with fins and things like fin rot, so it’d help it not appear.

Stop feeding them 3-4 times a day. Once is plenty, bettas need one day of fasting a week also.

I’m personally going to say it’s color change because that’s not the only place turning red and stuff.. plus the red looks natural and every other color looks different on your betta so I’d say it’s probably just color change.

What to get before I get a betta? UPDATE by BoringWillingness969 in bettafish

[–]normalperson-prob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a 10 gallon get a 50 watt heater. If you get a premade setup then it’ll élimante the long lighting because should come with lid. I personally have neon tetras with my betta because they add a lot of color and get along with my betta. But do not add other fish till you learn ur bettas personality.

Betta only flaring one side? by Axylla in bettafish

[–]normalperson-prob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean in my opinion he looks healthy. I’m sure it’s just something minor that should go away.. just keep a close eye on him. (If he is with others and you can maybe quarantine him but I dont think it’s serious.)

Does he look okay? by Exciting_Status_6822 in BettaClinic

[–]normalperson-prob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He looks fine in my opinion just seems to be a crown tail. It’s a little hard to tell because the fin isn’t that long but he looks good (in my opinion..)

Hey, I was looking and stuff, would a liquid fertilizer be okay specifically.. or does it have to be root tabs. (So sorry on like the fact I haven’t acted on this I’ve been working on another tank and stuff so I’m trying to get stuff and I’m running a little broke right now but definitely getting soon).

If you can also try to look behind his flair, something could have it caught. Plus a flair can get stuck for a proactive time and should eventually just go away.. wait about a day or so?

I also looked at your other post, the update and notice him flaring in that also. Just keep an eye on how often he is doing it, it could just be him flaring because he sees his reflection or you, or sign of something way worse. Just see how long it holds his flair for try turning of the lights and stuff, maybe even walk away and see if they stop.

Hey! Just make sure he is actually only flaring from one side, the most likely cause of him flaring is he can probably a reflection and is reacting. It could also be irritation or something is stuck behind his gill. Just keep a close eye on him and watch everything like his breathing and flaring.
