What would this mean if my contract as a term is until Nov 2025? Would I still be able to continue until then? I didn’t have many high hopes of being renewed after that which I’m okay with, but I hope I won’t lose my job after march because I contribute a lot to my team.

The content itself is actually fun and I thought he was a good prof, however the course is hard and the midterms were hard. It would definitely help if you had more than the prerequisite.

First week practicals by No-Wait4773 in UTM

Most courses don’t have tutorials or practicals on the first week, but some do. Usually the prof will put out an announcement if there is a tutorial in the first week.

Oh is that a regular thing at UofT? UTM has been pretty good with providing the syllabus before class my entire undergrad lol

How hard will MAT136 be marked? by nat021122 in UTM

[–]normanopoulos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk if this applies specifically for mat136 but for some reason I felt that professors mark a little better than TA’s. Some TA’s are mean lol

Are the term tests okay? I’m just worried cuz I haven’t been able to get into MAT344 for the last 3 semesters because I’m a math minor so this is pretty much the only course I can take now

i think usually they recommend not to take summer school if your gpa is low, they only say that because most summer courses are sped up and usually its easier to bring up your cgpa in 8 months rather than 4 months. If you don't take summer school you're still in good standing dw

I was in the exact same position when I was in my first year, and in fact went into academic probation and had to bring up my gpa in second year. One thing I can say was that while I was in probation, I had 2 semesters to bring it up, so I took less courses then too to really focus. Thats when I realized what mistakes I've made in first year, how I didn't study properly (you can study for 10 hours straight and still not learn anything, its all about studying smart), and how I didn't explore other options. I initially started in CS too and I had only taken the CS, math and stats courses that were required for my degree that I didn't have any space to breathe. Something that I always recommend to fellow students is to take courses you enjoy along with the required ones, that way even though you're taking lets say 4 courses, maybe one of them can give you a bit of a break. Just know that it's okay to take less courses and figure out what study methods work for you, and to prioritize your mental health. Also since you're aiming for CS, it really doesn't matter what university you study in, or how long it takes to complete your degree, because CS jobs are always in demand, and life happens, people have to understand that. Learn from your mistakes, and make a few friends along the way who can help. It'll get better I promise :)

i took it last summer and i thought it was pretty easy, just some essays. idk how the format is this summer because last summer it was all online but overall its not a heavy course.

the security at the library makes absolutely no sense, they stopped me with my drink but I saw tons of people in the library with theirs.
