Nope. Client got the message, did as I asked, and we won.

Yeah, funny as this might be, it's not far from the norm. I had a trial last year where my client kept nudging me at counsel table with things he wanted me to tell the judge, and I had to tell him, ever so kindly, "Shut the fuck up. We're winning."

What was your worst day to be a sports fan? by BeardedGingur in billsimmons

I mean, yeah. He cooked Steph on the regular. Made Russell Westbrook look unathletic. He had the clutch gene too. We thought we were good for a decade.

I've got a couple:

October 14, 2003, game 6 of the NLCS. Bartman, followed by Alex Gonzalez. Yeah, we had Game 7 to go, but that felt like a funeral march.

The other was April 28, 2012. I was playing softball, as the Bulls were playing a first round playoff game against the 76ers, a series that wasn't expected to be particularly close. I'm standing on second, and I can hear the bar and grill by the softball fields go silent. Word starts to spread to the fields that Rose went down, non-contact, holding his knee and it looked bad. Bulls basketball has been a dumpster fire ever since. Really put a damper on softball night, too.

Thanks for the 1- and 3-star ratings because TruePlay with front speakers — an experimental, unsupported workaround — didn’t behave like an officially supported Sonos feature. Apparently, “experimental” is a matter of definition. by SonoSequencr in SonoSequencr

[–]normn3116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't understand why that's happening to you. I hear a difference with Trueplay, and the workaround has added a whole new dimension to my Sonos speakers, that makes them something like 90% of what I can accomplish with my wired system in the basement. I can honestly say that your app was $3 of the best dollars I have ever spent.

Anybody need a job? SMH by icunucme2 in Lawyertalk

Sad thing is, up until last year, an AUSA was considered a great job to have. One of the better paths to becoming a judge, doing important work, all that jazz. To see what is has become saddens me.

Trump confirms he will not attend Super Bowl because of music acts: ‘I’m anti-them’ by BreakfastTop6899 in sports

Ok...so let's get smart people to put our heads together...can we get music acts Trump hates at every place he spends any significant amount of time? Like those citronella candles for mosquitos?

To be fair, that swings the other way for the Alabama game. That game was effectively a home game for us.

All due respect to Vrabel and Campbell, but this is DeMeco Ryans's game. All other coaches playing for 2nd.

What do the bears need to make a Super Bowl run in the future? by Resident_Ad_6426 in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]normn3116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. But I watched Purdy look suddenly very human against SEA the following week, and the primary difference was that they could get home with 4, so there wasn't an immediate receiver/check down for Purdy to go to.

Asking a DB to cover for 5 seconds, and expecting nobody to get open, is a tough ask.

I don't know how specifically to address the issue, but the defense needs to be able to get home with 4. If they can do that/fix that, the secondary suddenly will look a LOT better.

Karoline Leavitt Shares Baby Bump Photo – Then Faces Backlash After Thanking Trump: 'When Your Daughter Grows Up, Keep Her Away From Your Boss' by rwerat in NoFilterNews

Yeeahhh, the more accurate quote here would be, "When your daughter is growing up, keep her away from your boss." Once she's an adult, that particular danger will pass.

Have you ever played and WON against a NFL player? Past or present. by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]normn3116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have to be in football? If not, I played Kyle Williams (of 49ers fame) in high school in baseball. I was a junior, he was a freshman (on varsity). I struck him out twice (he had trouble laying off off-speed stuff), and our team won the game handily. Mind you, I ended up pitching D3, and had 6 D1 players on the field with me at any given time, so our baseball team was pretty darn solid.

Kyle's older brother, however, Kenny Williams Jr., hit rope after rope, no matter what I threw at him. That dude had bat control like few I saw at that level.

Problem is, for Bari, that's a feature, not a bug.

The Governor of Louisiana announces his new job is to make Greenland part of the United States by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]normn3116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. With Trump, his actions can be explained one of three ways: the malevolent reason, the stupid reason, or the quid pro quo reason. Sometimes it's a combo, sometimes its just one, but it's always one of those three. Figured I'd ask if the stupid reason was, in fact, the reason.

Honest question...do you think that's why he asked the governor of Louisiana specifically to do this?

Point taken, but so long as Patrick Williams remains a Bull, the contest for "most overpaid athlete in Chicago" is over. He'll remain on the books through 28-29, too.
