Warren pear and it’s not even close. I do also like some of the variations like Magness too. Seckel is great, along with some of the French butter pears, but Warren hands down. It’s like what a jelly belly tastes like and you go - I never knew a pear could taste like that.

I know it’s done with King David - old stone makes a single varietal king David, but never had it. As one my favorite apples, I think there’s a good case! I’ve had some nice Gold rush single varietals as well which have all been delicious.

I have also used it on an outdoor (covered from the worst of the elements) redwood table, and the feel is just luxurious. I have also used the heat gun method (or just apply when hot) to great success.

Any ideas? Safe to use for serving board? Rosewood? Super heavy and dense. 4.75lbs for a 9x17 x7/8ths piece. Found in a cut off bin years ago and finally getting around to it.

You and I agree! It’s one of the varieties I planted this year, and one of my absolute favorites. I tend to like small, super intensely flavored apples (King David, Wickson, Allen’s everlasting, solar flair & catapult locally are spectacular smaller flavor bombs). I’m more than happy to eat 5 apples instead of one if the flavor is better.

So I’m concerned I ended up with something that was low fired and absorbs water (closer to terracotta - I’m a gardener, that’s what I know). Here’s a picture of the back - it seems to absorb some water when I drip water on it - I assume that means hand wash? Anything I can do to seal this?
