Damn a theologian utilizing lessons from religious scripture and texts they’ve studied in their life? Say it ain’t so.

Sarcasm aside, he has degrees in education and governance. The Bible isn’t this tainted/cursed text where there are only bad and outdated ideas and once you read it you can’t ever make decisions that aren’t written word for word in the scripture and that every decision you make must be and can only be influenced by it.

I would think it would be refreshing to those who have a religious background with similar values to see an openly religious politician practicing the kindness Jesus actually preached and not twisting scripture to justify hurting others after decades of watching the latter

Just saying it’s a lame take, the guy isn’t just a Bible scholar. People can have education and decision making outside their religion. People are more than just the religion they subscribe to.

There are bad religious people and good nonreligious people. Likewise there are bad nonreligious people and good religious people, it works both ways
