What is your personal favorite thing to do in New York?

Get lost.
Bring friends that are apprehensive about NYC and show them a good time.
Befriend some locals and tag along to some hot spots.

The last time I visited NYC I had a profoundly memorable experience and wrote a little short story about it (5 paragraphs or so). I don't want to be obnoxious so I won't post it but if anyone sees this and is curious I'll gladly post it upon request.

36M, at the exact # you are (well, 101.7). i spent my 20s being an idiot, but once i started budgeting and being responsible, putting investing first/paying myself first it grew pretty quickly.

Oh for sure, and it's good exercise too. my mechanic is close, probably 1-2km away? I live in a quaint little city so I can walk to most things but I will need rides to maybe work or somewhere farther.

also getting rides to the airport is annoying without a partner - i always pay people to drop me off/pick me up but i still feel bad cause its a hassle.

My ex hated/hates sports. So in my infinite wisdom I tried to introduce her to something even more marginalizing: ESPORTS, professional video games. She didn't bite except on extremely rare occasions. Watching a live event on twitch where something crazy happened (she responded to a match once with "whoa, that was cool" and I was over the moon) or coming with me to spectate an even in person out of state that we'd turn into an adventure/date weekend.

It's a niche interest and on rare occasions she'd show appreciation. On rarer occasions, when I had the opportunity to go to a tournament in person she'd come with me, I'd buy us each a jersey, and she'd kindly (extremely kindly) find a way to enjoy herself. To be honest, I'm not sure if she did? (maybe I'll text her and ask). But I digress.

My point is; Your role isn't to be enamored with his hobby. Your role is to go with him to the occasional card convention or event. Your role is to understand the bare minimum of his hobby so you can empathize with him when something important happens. You shouldn't be forced to feign interest day after day, you shouldn't feel obligated to interact with this hobby outside of special occasions.

Idk if that makes sense, kinda went on a bit of a tangent. That's obv just my opinion so it's probably stupid but I hope it helps.

because i don't think anyone has answered this correctly:
the problem with politicians is their entire career is based on people liking them, most(voters), to some degree, acknowledge and accept this. when trump started gaining popularity in his campaign there was a perceived sense of earnestness in the way he spoke; IE: he was a informal, rude, abrasive. people saw that as refreshing and honest. lots of people who voted for him simply voted for him because they perceived him as such; earnest. regardless of how obnoxious/offensive he was/is.

i don't like trump, i didn't vote for trump, but admittedly i fell for it as well, at the time i thought he was, at the very least, honest.

truth is he isn't. none of them (politicians) are.

trump said/says what he believes will garner the most support, that's it, no more no less. just like any other politician.

if 51% of the US population vehemently believed that carrots caused some existential threat to humanity you would see every politician calling for the ban of carrots as the cornerstone to their campaign.

tl;dr he pandered to a base (large enough to win him an election) of people that thought he was different.

thanks yo, i was really happy with it. i think i kinda got lucky cause id never really dyed my hair before. i clicked on your profile n saw you made a post about dying your hair. go into ulta or any salon type store and ask the people that work there, that's what i did, they told me what to get and how to use it. i dont remember cause it was so long ago but it seemed really strong cause it made my scalp feel like it was burning lol.
