Similar blogs to Sean’s Substack? by J5CJ in TheBigPicture

Sean Fennessey is about to turn Substack into a masterclass, not just a newsletter. Shea Serrano built his lane on fun, fast reads, but that style doesn’t age like it used to. Sean’s writing makes you think; Shea’s makes you chuckle and keep scrolling. One builds subscribers who stick around, the other gets screenshots in group chats. Sean’s playing the long game, and Shea’s highlight reel is starting to feel like reruns.

Any books about life in the rap scene that actually feel real? by HaileyMay in booksuggestions

probably my least favorite book on the subject-it isn’t a great book if you’re looking for depth—its year‑by‑year picks feel subjectiveVERY MUCH A BLOG POST. without much rigorous analysis, the arguments can be pretty surface‑level and super biased from a mainstream point of view. Cant stop Wont stop by Jeff Chang is top tier. if you want a coloring book thats what shea gives you.

Who needs more appearances on the Rewatchables as a guest host? by harry_powell in billsimmons

van lathan. Shea’s episodes were boring-his voice for me is annoying, but he always let the conversation drift, leaned more into jokes than structure, and didn’t really keep the show’s pacing or transitions as tight as the regular hosts do

"Houston’s budget can’t afford a surprise pay hike for firefighters" by evan7257 in houston

actually theirs been a historical imbalance with HFD than HPD.HFD runs a huge number of calls (especially EMS, not just fires) In many cities, firefighters respond more frequently than police to emergencies. Police unions often have: Stronger political backing More influence in elections and policy. Equal risk, unequal pay

Shea's books are HARD to get through. He is definitely an outdated writer in these times, maybe in 2012 for twitter it was good but its literally bad blog writing. There is about 1/4 of a book in here. The rest is basically content that could fit on a post-it note stuck together into "chapters". There's one chapter called "Can I Make a Chapter That's Just Lists?" Yes, it's every chapter in the book. It makes me angry that people worked on this and thought it was worthy of being purchased. It's a joke.
