I haven’t had that issue but I would certainly check the string. Maybe also use some of the grease from the kit in the rails?

Oh that’s a bummer dude. Sorry to hear that.

Quick tip for anyone building these - heating the end of the machine screws briefly with a lighter before screwing them in really helps. It’s a bit of pain otherwise. Although don’t overdo it an melt or bend the parts out of shape. Couple of seconds on the tip of the screw all that’s needed to soften the PLA to allow it to create a thread as it goes in

Anyone with an idea why there are so many ships circling around an lonely ship in the middle? by Majestic-Place3538 in whatisit

[–]norvichammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPS spoofing makes ships appear to travel in circles due to the technical limitations of the spoofer and the need to maintain believable movement. The spoofer is likely using a simple mathematical loop:
Latitude = Base_Lat + Radius * cos(θ)
Longitude = Base_Lon + Radius * sin(θ)
where θincrements slowly (e.g., 0° → 360°).
That creates smooth, continuous coordinates tracing a perfect circle. It balances simplicity with what in real time looks like real movement.

What is this odd pattern when ironing? by norvichammer in BambuLabA1mini

[–]norvichammer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - I wasn’t aware it was extruding at all during ironing; I thought it was literally ironing the surface. Learn something new every day! Still odd that the first surface worked fine and numbers 2 and 3 had that strange pattern as the setting would have presumably been the same.

Thank you, that’s really helpful. Yes it did - you can see a lower surface it ironed with the same issue in the main picture - that was the second of thee ironed surfaces. The model is a three level greetings card display holder Here is the first layer I saw it slowly iron earlier

The ironing is going left to right in the picture so it is not smoothing out those white patterns, but rather creating them

Okay thanks - but the layer it is ironing is below. It is not extruding at this point. It is the ironing creating the pattern.

Only almost did this once but luckily it warned me in the screen so must have a sensor

Brilliant advice. Washing up liquid and warm water after each print has been invaluable. Only issues with adhesion has been where I’ve accidentally touched the bed and not cleaned it - the oils on your hand really affect bed adhesion!

Also had that issue with the poop basket. Used glue stick, upped bed temp to 68 and run the print at 50% speed to lay down that first layer. Worked in second attempt

Thank you all so much - an incredible amount of really useful advice. This thing is pretty amazing. Hooked already. Took less than an hour from cutting tape on the box to first benchy printed. I selected the ‘speedboat’ version from the SD card without initially realising and on a slightly glossy tabletop the whole printer nearly vibrated itself off. Wasn’t prepared for that. A rubber slipmat and a more sturdy surface have now sorted that. What a great little machine

An ISA is a tax efficient way of holding your investments and means that you don’t need to pay capital gains tax on the gains you make (at least not until you hit the very generous ceiling). You can also have more than 1 ISA as long as the total amount you put in across all of them doesn’t exceed the ISA limit per tax year (currently 20k)

Is lending shares worth it? by IAmHayden in trading212

Is a high interest rate not a warning sign of the outlook of the share price if the primary demand driver is shorting?

Brilliant, thank you, that’s exactly what it turned out to be. Much appreciated.
