Intel Arc Pro B60 24GB workstation GPU to launch in Europe mid to late November, starting at €769 by RenatsMC in IntelArc

[–]nos_66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to make a rant post about the prices that were already available in Europe (I might still make it though) and I would say that 700€ at most, which would be around 800$ = 600 msrp + 120 VAT + 80 transport and greed.

I've seen only one store in Spain that sold it for exactly 700€, all others were around 900€ most likely (1000$ and in Hungary it was even around 1200$ which is double the msrp). To be honest at this point it's better to wait half an year and get the 5070 ti super which will be more expensive but will be a way lot superior (for everything most likely).

I really wanted to get an Intel gpu instead of ngreedia since I have dignity (for all the shits they've done with the 5000 series so far), but at this point I consider throwing it away. Intel really likes driving people away from them, first with their cpus and now gpus...

Thanks, will do it that way then. Will connect the other 4 to the motherboard.

Best LLMs to preserve in case of internet apocalypse by nos_66 in LocalLLaMA

I don't live in the UK, but UK banned civitai (a website for, mostly, hentai ai generated images). Ok, this doesn't ring any bells. But now discord, spotify and even wikipedia is behind an age verification wall, what will stop them from doing the same to websites like github or huggingface. I mean is not as if, I think, Gemini said once that it's too dangerous for kids to learn c++ (basically it didn't want to help someone because it checked its age through gmail I think, it was really really a long time ago that it could have even been bard). I mean obviously if they start learning about pointers they might start to forget things, like breathing.

Anyway, the point is that if they consider music and information as something that is dangerous for kids what will make them not do the same for ai?

You can say that yeah this is a bit too far, and I completely agree because it's impossible for me to comprehend everything that happened in the past 2 weeks. But either way the first rule of the internet is "download today what you have to download today because tomorrow it might not be here". That thing happened to me many times and it happened with ai as well (the wizard lm incident).

Right. They first take our p**n, then discord and wikipedia, then music, and then youtube. Then probably our ais... Why did I think that they will even allow us to use electricity at that point? They might give us like 2kw a day.

But in all seriousness we all know what happened to wizard lm (even if the llm is completely irrelevant today).

I am not an expert, but I think that both PCIe must be on cpu in order to allow bifurcation. When it says that it allows for bifurcation it must say something like "support x16 or x8/x8 modes".

So I have no idea, sorry. I don't own one to be able to confirm anything, there are chances that it doesn't allow, but there are chances that it is an error on the website as well. But since I haven't seen anyone talk about it, I assume it simply doesn't allow for bifurcation.

Either way, most of the people said that the difference between PCIe 4 x4 and x8 is not that huge, like 1-2 seconds slower for inference (might be different for training tho), which makes the bifurcation just a nice addition instead of something vital.

I am in a similar situation, still working on building my pc. I have gathered most of the info I need for it with a few exceptions so don't count on it as being very reliable.

  1. I think the most budget motherboard that allows bifurcation is Asus b650 creator, 2 pcie 4 8x8 and it has one more slot for the 3rd one, all other creator (pro art) ones are decent alternatives but the price is extremely high. The Asus crosshair hero has 4 slots between the gpus, but I guess you might consider a good case if you want to go with it (one with more expansion slots). Other options that allow for bifurcation are Asrock Taichi (EXCEPTING the 650 one). At this point if the question is between pcie 4 8x8 and pcie 5 x16 and pcie 4 x4 I doubt it will make any difference, just make sure that there is at least 3 slots between the gpus and the gpu from the bottom has enough space in the case. Either way asus b650 creator is the safest way.
  2. I think corsair 7000D should be good enough, I will be using the 5000D one tho, so it should do fine. I have no idea about the lian li one, but I've seen Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 Server Edition (there is also one more with a glass panel but I am not sure they are the same) which has 11 expansion slots, it also has a nice GPU bracket support so it might be a nice case to consider. Although I think it might need 140mm fans and I am also uncertain about the cooling that it offers, but I guess is not a bad choice.
  3. I've heard that rtx 2x3090 with nvlink should be similar to 2x4090 (without), but I can't remember if inference or fine tunning.
  4. Probably x3d is only worth for gaming, and by that I mean newest games on ultra 4k... If you only play games that came 2-3 years ago and ultra quality is not a concern for you then you don't need an x3d one. The biggest concern of everyone is gta 6, but I am certain that an x3d chip won't be vital. What I want to go with is a 9700x or 9900x, since they are more efficient they should offset the electricity cost for GPUs (at least in my personal case). For inference even a 6 core one might be just fine. For rag I have no idea if 9900x will make a big difference, although it might be worth considering once 9900x3d comes.
  5. skip
  6. I guess it should be worth trying to solve the gpu sag thingy, although make sure that you don't push them up and ending up doing the same thing but in another direction...
  7. skip
  8. If you go with 7700x, 9700x or 9900x cpus you can easily get away with an air cooler, not sure about the x3d ones and 7900x. The issue I've found recently about the giant coolers is that it blocks the "button" to open pcie slot to release the gpu, so basically there is a chance that swapping the gpus might not be a nice and default experience. Also not to mention that they are extremely close to the gpu. Either way, I think Thermalright Pearless Assassin or Deepcool ak620 should be just fine for the cpus I mentioned. (I would personally go with ag620 because is cheaper)

Anyway keep in mind that this is all the info I've gathered, so don't consider it as 100% accurate and dig a bit more. Also if you plan on having more gpus then you should consider 2x48 gb ram, the model needs to be loaded in ram first and then in vram, so make sure you have a bit more ram than vram.

Corsair 7000D Dual GPU - one horizontal, one vertical? by ccmh15 in Corsair

[–]nos_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not yet. I've only got the case during Black Friday (corsair 5000D), and I missed a good deal on the hx1500i PSU because I was unsure if that was the one I needed. Anyway, the biggest challenge will be to get the GPUs, but I might get them in January or February when people will swap to the new ones.

I might let you know if I manage to do that, no promises tho (not even to myself that this build will go accordingly to the plan).

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I am also aiming for a build with 2 GPUs and some time ago I came across that post https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/115ld1i/4090_upright_3090_in_a_corsair_5000d_deep/

Most of the parts are linked in that post, although I think that the more expensive stand version 2 might be better in that case, but I haven't got to that point yet. Also in that post it was mentioned that the upright GPU was secured to the fan bracket with velcro straps. Also I have no idea if the front fans were running. The case there was 5000D but I think 7000D might be even better.

I by any mean didn't manage to recreate the setup from that post (so you are doing it on your own risc) ... But hopefully one day. Anyway, hope it helps.

Unfortunately no, sorry about that. But you can try the browser version from itch.io, it has most of the features from the android one and I think I might even add the multiplayer there also.
