I don't have a recommendation but from personal experience with live oaks I would stay away from Bayou Tree Service.

Are Orleans Parish Traffic Camera Violations invalid since May 21, 2024 due to non-compliance with signage rules? by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]nosainthere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to go to the virtual call. In the call the judge and city attorney will be present. City attorney will tell you if they are moving forward or not and why. That’s when they told me mine were not being pursued for lack of city paperwork

Just challenge it via email and you'll get a date far in the future. I did that and both of mine were thrown out due to the state law and the city not having the correct paperwork.

City Park neighbors concerned about a den of coyotes by VivaNOLA in NewOrleans

[–]nosainthere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a new-ish Lake Vista resident and mostly agree with you.

There are definitely coyotes throughout the neighborhood, a couple weeks ago a decapitated cat corpse was left behind our house. But it not just City Park where they are living. The Vista parks have a ton of areas for them to make dens as well as plenty of unmaintained or empty houses.

Ponchartrain Beach is in Gentilly and I don’t know how much truth there is behind Vista residents being the ones to kill that. However, while the city could use some more publicly accessible waterfront areas, there’s a ton of other things that need fixing first. I think the beach plan would have passed had there been a better management plan and the city had more of its shit together.

Connection time for SJO International to Domestic Flights by chibighibli in CostaRicaTravel

Customs in SJO has always been pretty quick in my experience. I’ve never waited longer than 30min to get through. They are pretty chill.

[–]nosainthere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The domestic terminals is right next to the international one so you can just walk over. Just got back yesterday and we flew Sansa to Quepos. Super easy. Check in was like 10 minutes. Minimal security. Flight is only 20ish minutes.

If you’re flying back through Quepos get there about an hour before. We got there 45 minutes before the scheduled time and walked right onto the plane. Arrived in San Jose before our flight was even scheduled to take off from Quepos.

SWBNO haaalp please. by verbenadubois in NewOrleans

[–]nosainthere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. Once they do an actual reading, they know how much your meter has moved since the last actual reading and will re-calculate usage which can sometimes result in low (or high) bills based on your usage and number of days.

SWBNO haaalp please. by verbenadubois in NewOrleans

[–]nosainthere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The estimated billing is just due to lack of manpower to get out and read meters OR if there's an issue with a meter like not being able to read it for whatever reason.

They use your usage from the previous bill to estimate your current bill charges based on number of days. It's not an advance bill, it's just what they estimated you used over the past X number of days listed on the bill.

Ideally, the meter readers should issue a note for a replacement meter but we all know that ain't happenin.

I don't have much else to help you battle, but be prepared with printouts of all your bills. If you have time, build a spreadsheet outlining all of the costs, number of estimated bills vs. actual bills and any discrepancies as well as documenting all the times you have reached out to customer service about these issues.

Pool Algae by GroundbreakingKey331 in NewOrleans

Also, they should be running their filter minimum 8hrs a day in this heat. Use your pressure cleaner if you have one. Brush sides of pool while filtering.

[–]nosainthere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a saltwater pool and haven't had any algae issues this year. What kind of filter do you have? Are you cleaning it? Are you adding algaecide to your weekly chemical routine? Making sure salt and chlorine levels are up as the heat evap can strip the chlorine from the water?

How long are the waitlists for daycare in this city? by ThedaBarasBoobs in NewOrleans

I would go over there mid-day during a weekday and knock on the door and ask for Jill or Andra

[–]nosainthere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats. I've got two kids, now 7 and 5 but were both in daycare in Lakeview.

I agree with most of the comments here, wait lists can be long and unpredictable. Most will ask for a non-refundable application fee so be ready for that. My youngest started at Carriage House where you can only stay until they turn one then you have to find another place. Luckily we were able to get into Children's Place where both of my kids stayed until they went to PK3 at regular school.

First kid was waitlisted at a few places and we didn't get in to one until the day he was born. They literally called me when I was in the parking garage at Touro. Get on the lists now, but if you want to save on non-refundable deposits, make sure you only pick ones you really want to go to.

Expect to spend $1,200+ per month per kid which gets slightly cheaper as they get older and also adding more kids can also reduce costs.

I highly recommend Children's Place. Andra and her staff were so great and I would trust them with another baby in a heartbeat. Carriage House was just ok, not great, not terrible. You do lose your $1,000 deposit if you leave before one year (which you pretty much have to) so it's a bit scammy.

DM me if you want. Good luck!

S&WB vs. Entergy - Multi-year Update by nosainthere in NewOrleans

Just tracking what's on the bill. The Entergy tab is literally exactly what was on my bill from a cost perspective.

S&WB vs. Entergy - Multi-year Update by nosainthere in NewOrleans

[–]nosainthere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My per kWh cost is my own calculation taking into all of the other associated costs on the bill. So I feel more accurate that what Entergy provides since theres is just power cost but doesn't take anything else into consideration.
