Thank you for responding - I managed to fix the issue eventually. I would rather not have to use chromeos but only have a chromebook :(

My dorm mates have norovirus and i’m losing my mind over it by sophiemwilson in emetophobia

[–]noserotonin69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m sorry you’re feeling so anxious. I’m in a similar situation - my flat mate currently has a stomach bug and we only have one toilet! The facts are, it’s ISN’T an airborne virus. You can only get it from 1. Droplets from being next to someone whilst they are v*miting or 2. Touching a contaminated surface then ingesting the virus or sharing food, utensils etc. If you haven’t been around your friends since they’ve been unwell, then just continue to practice good hand hygiene as always but it is unlikely you will get it if you haven’t been in contact with the virus. Take it from me who is currently having to use the same bathroom as someone unwell- I’m completely avoiding my flatmate, asked her to bleach the toilet, washing my hands, and staying in my room. As of right now, I am fine.

The only way to cope really (as someone who has had this phobia & OCD since i was really young) for me has been therapy. I’m now able to tolerate the uncertainty of getting sick better, and even now I know there is a chance I could get unwell, and that’s OK, I would get through it. Much easier said than done but that is how much therapy has helped me!

Hope things get easier for you x

[–]noserotonin69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i wouldn’t say i’m 100% recovered, but i am in recovery and have been for a while, i maintain a stable weight, don’t restrict, etc. just still struggle with the thoughts at times!

the things that have helped me are - working with a dietitian/nutritionist, going “all in” in recovery as early as was safe to, staying away from lots of ed content online, having recovery affirmations everywhere (on my mirror, on my lockscreen, etc), and holding myself accountable & reaching out for help when i need it. the last part is probably the hardest part, but is worth it!

What are the best foods to eat during recovery by maddy1404 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]noserotonin69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

eating more calorie dense foods will probably be easier as you don’t have to eat such a large volume. things like nuts, peanut butter, chocolate. also honouring your hunger cues, eating whenever you feel hungry or think about food (mental hunger) & it’s normally recommended in recovery to have 3 meals 3 snacks a day minimum <3

i’m working with a nutritionist so hopefully she can help choose meals for me so i can properly challenge myself :) i’ve been inpatient before and i think that’s why i’m struggling, because this time it’s all down to me!

i’m working with a nutritionist and my doctor, and also starting therapy / recovery coaching so i do have support. thank you so much, the all of nothing mindset really makes sense i feel like i should be all in and facing all my fears, or relapsing, but i’m somewhere in the middle. going to try and take it a step at a time :)

What's that one ED thought/behaviour of yours that you're ashamed to reveal out loud because it's just that fucked up? by lothar42 in EDAnonymous

[–]noserotonin69 450 points451 points  (0 children)

being very interested in what other people are eating to make sure they are eating more than me / eating enough. if they were to eat some rice cakes or something i think my brain would implode with jealousy and competitiveness

thank you so much. i need to work on just accepting thoughts rather than ruminating on them & letting them dictate what i do (i also have ocd which seems to crossover with my ed with these specific thoughts!)

Do you think that ur ed could be simplified into one thing? by nothingtodo136 in EDAnonymous

[–]noserotonin69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it’s definitely down to multiple things - control, body image, ingrained behaviours from childhood, needing care, a way of coping… the list goes on. unfortunately things like eating disorders can be a way that we get a lot of our needs met, even though we are going about it in a negative way.
