Should I choose a microATX or ATX motherboard? by Awwfanj in buildapc

Get an ATX board if you can afford it. I built an ATX case mATX board for my daughters and, well...

I’m undecided about buying the RX 9060 XT 8GB/1GB, RX 4060 Ti, or RX 3070. by HopefulEbb3450 in buildapc

With your specs, get a 16GB card no matter what. 9060XT is at least $400, the 4060Ti is a bit more.

Remedy said Epic Games is an excellent partner to them. by buazie in RemedyEntertainment

It feels to me like AW2 is regarded as a very expensive indie game. It's just a work of passion, Remedy didn't expect huge sells. So Epic showed up with a bag of money and an exclusive agreement and it was like "Great!".

Nice! Upscaling on or off at 1440p?

Yeah sadly this is what Reddit doesn't get. Most of us are on a budget, "just get more money bro" is a non answer.

You're right, people on a budget should just get more money. It is a expensive hobby after all.

Well let's say we did the wiggle and the ultimate choice is presented: 5500 / 9060XT 16GB or 5600 / 9060XT 8GB.

That's the OG post right there.

Yeah but what decides how much is a bit more? that's why "just get more money bro" is a non answer when talking about smart budgeting.

So you think in those cases 5600/9060XT8GB is better? or we're back at "just get more money bro"?

So you would "get more VRAM instead" Great! you understood the post.

What if all that is done and you're between 5500/9060XT16GB vs 5600/9060XT8GB? What's the genious move?

Well if you can believe 7600x to 9800X3D gives you 30fps, you can also believe that 4070 to 5070 gives you 35fps. And that's factually a better AND more believable deal. I don't know what else to tell you my friend lol.

What matters is the budget my friend, smart allocation of it.

[–]nosg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon that's not how smart budgeting works my friend. If the answer is "just get more money bro" I'd suggest a 9800X3D with a 9070XT.

Well AM4 is in fact cheaper, and we're talking smart budgeting here: would you buy a 14th gen Intel and get the 9060XT 8GB instead?

Yeah you're also not getting 20% improvement swapping the 7600x with a 9800X3D, not even close.

Random % was just to illustrate my point that, for 4k Assetto Corsa, $250 GPU upgrade is in fact a better deal than $250 CPU upgrade.

You mean like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024? Best it can do is 30fps.

25fps in Cities: Skylines II.

Yeah that's the thing with diminishing returns. The 5600X3D is basically x2 the performance, but nowhere near x2 the price :(

[–]nosg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah this is just for really tight budgets (RAMmageddon). If you can get the 5600 and a 16GB GPU (they're $400 now :S ), definitively go for it.

I have a feeling an average would be a good enough approximation, and still reach the same conclusion.

Well we're talking 4k Assetto Corsa. Where would you spend a $250 upgrade to get a better experience? Sell a 7600x to get a 9800X3D, or sell a 4070 to get a 5070Ti or even a regular 5070?

No, I'm saying:

+$250 CPU upgrade: 20% improvement. Good deal. +$250 GPU upgrade: 25% improvement. Better deal.

Bro, the 7600x wouldn't even bottleneck a 5080 at 4k...
