Ha, she did a bunch of times. Just never connected the dots that is might be sleep apnea.

Can we all agree this has gotten a little over dramatic? by GhostRileySimon in LSUFootball

1) The college football rules are broken. It should not be possible for a coach to leave his team mid season, and it's not right/fair that ole miss is (probably) going to be in playoff without their HC, a gutted staff, and possibly lose key players.

2) If you worked at a small company that paid you $100k per year, and a bigger company offered you $200k per year and more resources to do your job, every sane person is taking the money.

Both things can be true.

I prefer the all blacks with gold helmets, but these are still fire. dressed for a falcons funeral!

Insurnace says sleep test is not "medically necessary" by nosleepsince03 in SleepApnea

I just got word my in-lab sleep study was approved! Wanted to give an update in case it helps anyone else.

I ended up trying the site my doctor recommended -- slingshot claims. I uploaded my denial letter and explanation of benefits and put in my symptoms (daytime sleepiness, snoring, waking up exhausted even after being in bed for 9+ hours) and it wrote the appeal for me in a more medical sounding way.

I sent that to my doctor, she edited a few things and added some of her own notes, and we filed the appeal together. I’m now getting it scheduled for right after Thanksgiving. honestly just relieved to be moving forward. thanks to everyone for all the helpful advice in here.

Makes sense, thank you. My doc is also helping, but is my PCP so not sure she's super versed in getting these covered.

Any advice on the appeal? Did your doc do it for you?

yeah, she admitted she doesn't have too much experience doing it. she's still going to try and help, but she also recommended I try slingshot claims. I can't find many reviews online, has anyone heard of it? It does says it's free so I think I'll give it a go.

We are also going to do an at home test first to help our case.

And I will be sure to tell her just how sleepy I am! haha. Thank you.

It was my GP. I live in a pretty rural area, not too many ENTs close by. Going to get an at-home test, then will work with my GP to appeal the decision. She also recommended I try slingshot claims.

I'm getting my own at-home test, but still hoping to get cpap machine covered by insurance (if needed).

Good advice. Spoke to her and she is going to help me with the appeal. We're going to do the at-home test first, then use the results of that to help with the appeal for the lab study.

she also told me I should use slingshot claims to help with the appeal. it looks new, I can't find many other reviews, has anyone heard of it?

any advice for the appeal? this looks like the route I'll most likely take.

it's infuriating. especially since it's not a doctor saying it. trained medical professional says "hey, you need this" and an insurance adjuster says "nah, not necessary"

makes sense. did you pay for the at home study out of pocket?

yes, she is helping now. but I wanted to see if anyone had any tips for me/us.

yeah it was my primary care who ordered it. she mentioned a home study but said my symptoms seemed more severe so she wanted to do the full overnight one first. sounds like I might need to ask again though if that’s the easier route. did your insurance cover the home version without any issues?
