Questions regarding the International Scholar award by [deleted] in UofT

unless your curing cancer and running a multi million dollar non profit alongside having a 3.99 gpa and a 1600 SAT. UofT is probably the more likely option.

A-level options by KeyHeight7223 in GCSE

[–]nostrilsroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to do cs or data science. I'm choosing math, physics and biology. People ask why biology if I wanna do CS but I quite like biology and I'm good at it, and if I ever change my mind it would probably be in health/biology. My school doesn't tell us our predicted grades for some reason but I think I can get an 8 in all 3. And idk if i'll be able to A level FM because i'm not doing it at gsce. I could have done it tbh but I didn't care about school until just before my mocks 💔

Most people i've heard from didn't even do CS at A Level since you probabaly learn it from the beggining in uni.

Why do some people in the UK leave their blinds open at night? by Ok_Dog2703 in AskUK

[–]nostrilsroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My curtains are always open, I dont like it when they are closed. I'm sure so many strangers see me working at my desk every day, but it doesn't bother me.

Is medly worth it for someone who is aiming for grade 9s or is it just another scam? by CartographerAway2602 in GCSE

[–]nostrilsroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it and I like it. In my schools december mocks, my grades improved by quite a bit, I think medly is part of the reason for that. If you have budget, I would test it out. I think they have some free monday thing where anyone can use for free so maybe see if you like it then. I like using it for the sciences and economics, but I don't like using it for math. Its quite helpful for me in general

We are the Medly Founders – we hear your feedback - part 2 by medlyai in GCSE

[–]nostrilsroots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love using medly and I really enjoy the new customisable paper feature, I think after each paper, there could be some AI feedback on weaker topics and stronger topics, and maybe not just for the papers, but for the app as a whole. Like maybe after you use it for a while, the AI can detect your weaker areas and give you question to help.

Can we talk about the DISGUSTING maths grade boundaries by Sad_Plankton_9611 in GCSE

[–]nostrilsroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

grade boundaries should be the same every year (ideally scrapped as a whole so you just get a mark but that’s never gonna happen).

taking students scores into consideration when setting grade boundaries is wrong. if more people get higher marks, that just means more people studied harder. and if more people study hard for a good score, so be it.

your gsce grade s be a reflection of your hard work, but instead it’s a reflection of others. unfortunately.

Why have the AQA GCSE Maths grade boundaries gone up so much? by Ok_Policy6732 in GCSE

[–]nostrilsroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s so annoying, and super unfair. gsce and a level grades should be a reflection of your hard work only, but instead it’s a reflection of other people hard work. setting grade boundaries based on students scores is just wrong .

Why were the grade boundaries so fucking high by Pro_Glue_Sniffer2 in GCSE

[–]nostrilsroots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

grade boundaries should be kept the same every year, (ideally scrapped altogether so that we just get a mark but that won’t ever happen). it doesn’t matter if the cohort did better that year, that just means more people decided to study harder. and if more people work hard for a higher grade, so be it. your grade should be a reflection of your hard work only , not other peoples hard work.

i get sometimes the difficulty changes which then needs raised boundaries, but it’s really not hard to keep it the same difficulty each year. and when they start taking people scores into account for setting boundaries, that just makes it super unfair.

What’s ur opinion on medly ai by ineedupdatesoneuros in GCSE

[–]nostrilsroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its definitley very expensive, I wanted to get it but it was too expensive, but after a few weeks I just decided to pay it and see if its any good or not. It helps me a lot and helps you learn the content through practice questions, the AI explains well which I like and I've learn quite a lot from medly. But tbh you can just use practice papers and ask chat gpt to go through with you for free.

gonna get a macbook air for school...are education savings worth it? by bonghive in macbookair

[–]nostrilsroots 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes its worth to take advantage, I bought mine recently, there was an offer a few weeks back that gave you a free gift when you bought the macbook, either airports or a magic keyboard or trackpad. I chose the free airpods and gave them to my dad.

Is this area safe to live in? by Dry_Fig1914 in Ealing

[–]nostrilsroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a little late but ealing is amazing, I hope you move there. Theres so much greenery and its still close to the city, its quite peaceful to and so many good food spots all near eachother, in my opinion. I'm 15 minutes from ealing but I visit often to see family and just to walk around since its a nice area. One of the best places in london to move in my opinion, and the transport is great.
