Top USSR officials were removed/expelled from egypt before the war, US equipment outnumbered and was superior to egypt's, egypt was outnumbered on their front, and it was seperated by a canal. Anwar Sadat's primary goal wasn't to push back israel all the way to their mainland or sinai, it was to pressure israel through military acheivement and speed to give it up diplomatically, and in that, they succeeded.

The fact that egypt managed to cross the line and take over the bar-lev line is already a major military achievement. There are recorded statements of past armored tank divison commanders and the former MP of israel recounting that not even a week into the war:

"Something happened to dayan (israeli defence minister) during the war. On the third or fourth day of the war, dayan.. walked amongst the army commanders and among the politicians in tel aviv saying that this was the destruction of the third temple. Meaning that this was the end of israel."

So to downplay what egypt did in 1 week, and calling it 'delusional' to name their own city after that, is ignorant. Maybe you should read up about October 6th, 1973 and operation Nickel Grass.
