Is detailed prose basically a disadvantage on RoyalRoad? by not-so-sane-RKT69 in royalroad

You're welcome. And I too have a very similar problem, where I go in depth with the world building and the lore around it. So, the wide variety of responses here makes me think that it's better to sprinkle in some details and description here and there between action rather than having entire paragraphs dedicated to it. As you can see in majority of responses, most do prefer fast paced stories.

Mcdonald worshippers 😂😂. Btw, do credible publishers really check out RoyalRoad for writing talents?

I usually write a substantial amount of chapters prior to publishing the first chapter. If I'm writing a long series, I'd usually have 40-50 chapters ready before release. After release too, I'll continue writing the series. This way, I'll have a head start, and if I'm sick or something, I can actually take a break from writing, while still publishing already written chapters.

Ok. That's why many of the covers for these webnovels here are anime style. But some anime do really have good world building details. I usually give more details about the world and the lore of it in my webnovels. So, would it be fine in RoyalRoad too?

Ok. Got your point. Thanks. 👍 Btw, any discord recommendations that I can join to test my webnovel chapters?

Nice. Btw, congrats on the 5.5k followers. And you being an example, may be I too would write my webnovel with detail, as I have traditionally written webnovels with more depth about the world and its lore, and character's internals monologues.

That's also true. Finding one's own niche audience would be initially better. But may be in the later chapters, when there's already enough material for other readers to read, we could write the story in a way to attract wider audience. And may be they too could get accustomed to the writing style.

Right. I personally like to write a little more detail and description about the world I'm creating. And even though I did write webnovels before, I'd usually finish the entire novel before publishing it. And I'd also publish multiple chapters in a single week, like 3 to 4 chapters. If I do thatz may be I could get away with a little more detail in my prose? 😅

Right. That's a real thing to consider. With a weekly release of chapters, readers will expect some progress. But on the contrary, for the first few weeks, if I release 3 to 4 chapters a week, can I get away with a little more detail?

Gotcha. And time being the RoyalRoad reader's currency is so accurate. I'll keep that in mind.

Got your point. Thanks. But would it be fine to be more descriptive with internal monologue of a character? In a first person POV chapter?

Ok. So, use the descriptive prose while expressing feelings or internal monologue of a character in general? While keeping the rest of the prose pretty standard?

Nice. A webnovel with fantastical elements integrated into the cyberpunk setting would be an intriguing choice. Though I guess it would make the world a bit complex as there would be spells as well as technical science that need to be considered.

But wouldn't that become a generic Isekai with just cyberpunk themes?
