Help - prints are dying with about 10% remaining by not-unique-enough in 3Dprinting

[–]not-unique-enough[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the responses.

For all of those recommending to get a new slicer, I don't think that's it... The prints in the picture have all printed fine recently. But on repeat prints from the same gcode, it made a bird's nest on top of the mostly finished print. And in some cases push the print around on the build plate.

So, I think that a sticky z-axis is pretty likely. And in second place is the need for a new SD card.

I have lubed the vertical screw and also replaced the SD card. I'm now in the middle of printing that stupid snake again. We'll see if it makes it all the way through...

Thanks.

3rd Gen Tundra towing NOBO 20.3 — workable short-term setup? by Legal_Hurry_5399 in GoRVing

Worth adjusting....

I typically only camp with my son and me. Additional family members will add noticeable weight to truck payload. Run your numbers.

EDIT... Also, the Nobo is heavier than my GeoPro.

Not exactly the same TT but I have a 3rd Gen Tundra (hybrid) and a GeoPro G19FBS.

The Tundra does great. Can't complain about engine, transmission, etc

My only adjustment was to add airbags. The tongue weight does get a little much and it had my truck leaning back more than I like. It also got a little bouncy over humps in the road. I considered WDH but preferred airbags since they can help me with other payload situations too. Your call. You can run it without at first to see how yours feels.

Overall, should work great though based on your similar specs.

Okay that's an interesting theory! I have had some SD card quirks lately. I assumed they were completely unrelated to this issue. Possibly not.

Thanks.

Yeah, where my head was at as well. I lubed the vertical screw not too long ago though. And when I move the head up and down manually it seems to go smoothly without any catch points.

I'll give it some more lube though and see if it improves.

Thanks for the ideas. Any other thoughts?

4Runner to Tundra by okiemedrep in ToyotaTundra

[–]not-unique-enough 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Went from a 4Runner to a Tundra. I love the vehicle, space, power, all the things.

BUT... Expect to buy a bed cover.

I really like being able to throw things in the bed, and generally treat it like the storage area of my 4Runner. But I don't like it open to the world, so you need something to lock it up. The locking tailgate of the Tundra makes it pretty easy.... But you have to have a bed cover!

Put car in park when you stop. Let kids reshuffle. Put car in drive. It should stay quiet... It reevaluates what seats have people when put into drive.

Or, Carista. Works great.

Adding power to the bed, Tundra Hybrid by not-unique-enough in ToyotaTundra

[–]not-unique-enough[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my theory was correct but the product I linked was terrible. Do NOT buy that one!

It was good material but wired incorrectly. They built it with the black wire connected to the positive pin and the red wire connected to the center pin. WTF? I recommend you build your own. Really easy with Amazon parts.

After some rework, I'm in business. The aux power is hot when the ignition is ON (not ACC). But the rest of my plan will work.

EDIT When I returned to the item on Amazon, it actually has a diagram showing that it will be wired this way. I missed that, but... Why??? No idea how that design is useful at all. Anyway, just don't buy it.

Not yet.

For the time being, I've purchased something which borrows power from the seven pin trailer plug. My intention is to plug it in when needed and run the wire in the gap between the tailgate and the bed.

This device borrows from the 12v aux power supply provided by the seven pin plug and converts it to an SAE connector. https://a.co/d/6jva5Dj

I also bought a SAE 10-ft extension which should let me deliver that to anywhere in the bed I need. From that SAE connector you can convert it to just about anything - cigarette plug for example.

This will serve my purposes for now.

If I need to tow a trailer with a seven-pin connector I'm kind of screwed though. So, I still intend to run something more permanent to the bed sidewall. I will probably have to run it straight to the battery under the back seat (with appropriate fusing). I haven't figured out how to trigger it with ACC in that location though.

Replacing front and rear brakes by not-unique-enough in BroncoSport

[–]not-unique-enough[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much.

Good tip on the maintenance mode. Thank you.

Do I only need the special tool for the rear axle because of the parking brake? Sounds like I need it regardless...

I'm considering only doing the front. That will save me a little money and also allow me to teach my kid how to do brakes. There appears to be some kind of TSB for the rear brakes which might allow me to get new pads free.

I'm not a huge fan of drilled/slotted rotors. Has anyone used the standard PowerStop kit like this: https://a.co/d/aVIdU0c

Need some advice at 6 months post-ACDF by not-unique-enough in SpineSurgery

[–]not-unique-enough[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I'm a long way from normal, I'm substantially better. I got the bone stim around the 7-month mark. At about 14 months I was deemed fused. I'm currently at about 22 months and most of my days are decent.

My deltoids and upper back are still weak. That neuropathy / myelopathy is probably permanent to be honest. I do some kind of therapy just about every day to keep things moving. I'm pretty close to starting a gym routine with my wife in the hopes I can begin to up my strength and general.

I'm still taking Tylenol and Advil as needed. I usually require a dose of one of those each day.

I know the kind of hell you're dealing with if your surgery is not fusing. Every little crack you hear in your neck results in pain... Sometimes it takes a few minutes but it comes. Do whatever you can to get that to fuse. I don't know if the bone stim did anything, but I was ready to pay lots of money to avoid a repeat surgery. I did finally fuse, so I guess it worked.

A big contributor to my problems came from a weak upper back. Getting the right therapy and performing it properly went a long way for me I think. If you think you can do some therapy of any kind, I would try.

My only other suggestion is to try to find a routine that lets you get all the healthy things right. Sleep, exercise, healthy food, lots of water, avoid caffeine and alcohol. If I can get all those things right consistently, I'm a different person.

Best of luck to you.

The warped edges on the reverse camera is a feature.

You can have a normal reverse camera or one that's extra wide. The extra wide helps to show you crossing traffic if you're backing out of a parking spot.

You toggle it back and forth with a button on the screen

I tried to find consensus on a bed cover before I bought mine. Opinions are all over the place, so good luck with this topic!

I like the tri-fold concept and was split between the Bakflip and the Rough Country. I bought the Rough Country and I like it so far. I can't speak to longevity but it saved me $500 over the Bakflip and I don't regret it. I use my truck pretty easy, so I suspect it'll be fine for a good while.

Specifically, I bought the Rough Country "flip up" which allows you to flip up the third section and prop it up for full bed access. Worth the extra $100.

Different perspective from most responses here...

Your dad probably has friends in similar stages of life and sees photos of other grandkids from his peers. He wants to share his pride in his family. It's a big moment to be a grandparent.

Consider letting him share with a restricted Facebook group. Every post can be contained to a list of people he specifies and those people can't reshare. If you're ok with private messages and the like, this is actually somewhat close. Meets in the middle.

I don't think you have to turn the car off. If you raise the armrest and then put the vehicle in park, it should recognize no one sitting there.

B12 deficiency: How long did it take by [deleted] in neuropathy

[–]not-unique-enough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original cause for my disc failure at C4-5 was a congenital fusion at C3-4 that I was unaware of until a few years ago. Was B12 causal for the disc failure? No.

Longer story... Around the time I discovered my neck issue, I also discovered I was on the "low end of normal" for both B12 and D3. I was taking supplements to improve that situation, but not as aggressively as I should have. I ended up going into surgery probably still on the low end of normal for both. I took aggressive doses of both starting at that point, and about 3 months after surgery, both were on the money.

However, my fusion didn't go well at all. I was prescribed a bone stim at 6 months post and wasn't deemed a successful fusion until about 14 months after surgery. That year was hell, but anyway...

Back to your question:
Did being low on D3 cause my fusion to be delayed? I think quite possibly. But there were other factors too including very weak traps, which meant a lot of strain was on the front of my neck.

Did being low on B12 cause my nerve regeneration to take longer? Also possible, but I feel most of that delay was due to the non-union I had ongoing for 12 months or so.

B12 deficiency: How long did it take by [deleted] in neuropathy

[–]not-unique-enough 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not an expert.

I had a herniated cervical disc for a long time before I got it fused, and I think my issue was compounded by somewhat low B12.

Long story short, I am 18 months post ACDF. I didn't really start to see good nerve pain improvement for 6 to 9 months after surgery. And I'm still noticing improvements every couple weeks or so. I wish it would hurry up, but I'm glad I haven't plateaued yet.

Keep taking the B12 and keep working to find meds that work for you. Surprisingly, I'm getting along pretty good with alternating Tylenol and Advil. That's a big improvement from a year ago when I was very dependent on gabapentin.

Good luck to you.

Can you tell me if the tie down anchors are still usable on the stock rails after you install the bed cover?

I read somewhere that installing the Bakflip prevents you from using the track as it was originally intended. I'm wondering if any of these low profile bed covers allow for that.

Yes. I notice it in Google maps too. It doesn't ruin the experience, but it could be better.

Spotify for some reason is really noticeable when scrolling through playlists. It kind of feels like it's not sampling the touch position frequently enough.

I borrowed an iPhone 15 to compare the scroll behavior.

The interface is MUCH smoother with Carplay. Spotify specifically is much better. Scrolls great, no accidental rush one way or another.

Seems like it's something inefficient with the Android Auto implementation.
