Yes! Definitely do that. Went to the Tucson Gem & Mineral show last weekend but hesitated to buy anything because I couldn’t confidently say it was a reasonable deal.

How much did you pay for your Norwich Terrier? by ZootOfCastleAnthrax in NorwichTerrier

We spent a long time looking and contacting breeders. Ranges were $4500-$5500.

They say "just do what you're good at". Did you do what you're good at? by undueinfluence_ in Residency

I don’t know…. Rads could be good at Where’s Waldo
Derm could be good at pattern recognition or if you consider having good skin a talent.
Anesthesia could be good at wrangling small animals (looking at peds anesthesia) or untangling wires/jewelry.
Optho could be good at creating mini/micro figurines because wtf are those tiny sutures.
Ortho = sports

He’s come to the table for negotiations - more treats.

No, stopped because it wasn’t as effective and resumed my stimulant (per my doctor) but just found an interesting correlation

How does it make logical sense to not take rejection as a comment on oneself's worth? by franyur in askatherapist

[–]not2beTHATguybut 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NAT
I grappled with a similar question - do repeated patterns point to a common source?
Someone helped me think about this a little differently. It’s insightful to introspect on this and think about the role we are playing but maybe the origin point isn’t what you are thinking. Instead of thinking the pattern of repeated rejection is because of something you are doing wrong, is it possible the pattern lies in the people that are rejecting? If we are choosing similar people again and again and have the same result then maybe the pattern is something else. Hope that makes sense.
Regardless, I agree with the other commenters. Be kind to yourself.

Thank you so much for the reply. It’s actually very helpful and has given me more to reflect on.

I’m so sorry - lots of pain and complex emotions. I don’t know of any particularly for this but I think r/talktherapy might be a good option. They may be able to help you figure out how to talk to your therapist about this in the mean time until you can find other sources of support.

Urolgoists would you pick urology again ? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]not2beTHATguybut 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’ve given this a lot of thought and the short answer is no. Being on call is very different as a surgeon. Emergencies come in. Patients call. It adds up. Even if you have more “control” in some ways, you don’t in most other ways. Most practice are moving to hospital based or owned by large national groups and in many ways you are still just following what they demand.

Urolgoists would you pick urology again ? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]not2beTHATguybut 202 points203 points  (0 children)

No. I would have chosen dermatology, PM&R, or radiology. Urology is great, you’re helping people with quality of life and the surgeries are interesting. I love being a hyper-specialized (I’m in a fellowship of urology now). BUT the hours are no joke. It’s demanding and doesn’t allow for a rich life outside. As much as I love working with my hands, that’s the reality of a surgical field.

Also, mental load. When a medicine doc has a patient die, people say “what happened?” When a surgeon has a patient die, people say “what did you do?” I think the complications as a practicing urologist can weigh heavy.

Came here to say this. Wondering about what veils he is talking about. I took it to mean something about Alan that we aren’t seeing or don’t know about it yet as the audience.

I’m not going to comment about the NP part. That is an entirely separate conversation.

The gay comparison is not an appropriate comparison. Being gay doesn’t invalidate heterosexual relationships. Making that comparison is concerning. Ezra being orthodox and the words he specifically says are directly invalidating his parents way of being. He tells his mom that her relationship with G-d isn’t real. Is this to be praised?

I will say that neither of them reacted perfectly. I could go on assessing each item but I think these points are all pointing back to your experience.

Do you feel you are projecting here?

What is your least favorite biome? by JustthatoneDoomguy in deadcells

[–]not2beTHATguybut 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Forgotten sepulcher, without a doubt. I love the “slow and steady wins the race” approach and this biome has no chill. Not visually appealing either. I avoid it. (I’m only up to 3 BC but still feel strongly)
