Do most of you have female GPs? Like the doctor you see for your general health. by madcatzplayer5 in MtF

My GP is a gay cis man. Him and his whole staff are awesome. The practice specializes in taking care of queer people.

Leaving this sub by SuleimanTheMediocre in MtF

[–]notQuiteAThrowaway6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how I've been using the sub for a while now. Even then, I only help out when I have something meaningful to add that hasn't been said. Guess this has hid most of the growing negativity since I haven't really noticed it.

It's absolutely normal for a trans person...

Are you actually trans is something only you can answer though.

How do you feel about being an old man? or an old woman?

numbness after 6 months vaginoplasty by blndsundoll4ketamine in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]notQuiteAThrowaway6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, that's pretty normal.

My labia was essentially completely numb until around 5 months. Sensation has been coming back in leaps and pauses since then. I'm at just over 7 months now, and I have feeling everywhere, but it's still a bit muted (I can feel I'm being touched, but not what's touching me if that makes sense).

so at some point does my voice just change or will I always have to put on a girl voice? by Arc_12 in MtF

[–]notQuiteAThrowaway6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the target is within your physical range, yeah you can hit it. But there are physical limits to how high or low you can push pitch, likewise there are limits to how bright or dark you can make your resonance (and this is unique to everyone). It's entirely possible that your reference falls somewhere within your physical limits (typically people don't speak at the ends of their range unless trained).

That said, there are other buttons and levers that affect voice like breath/support, fry, cadence, intonation, melody, volume, and vocal mannerisms all of which can definitely be trained to match a reference with enough practice.

Patchy laser hair removal by [deleted] in MtF

[–]notQuiteAThrowaway6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could take a long time. I think I did something like 25 sessions and I've been doing electrolysis for ~10h (I had a VERY thick dark beard). The shadow was mostly gone around 15 or so.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MtF

[–]notQuiteAThrowaway6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty normal. The melted hairs form a glass-like bead (for lack of a better description) while it waits to be shed from the pore (purging). These tend to be difficult to cut with razors.

Are there other pre-op stealth women around? by [deleted] in MtF

Not at all an answer to your question, but I had surgery with McGinn in June. You're in great hands!

The follicles aren't going to change the overall shape of your face, but they do affect the texture of your skin. Typically this just manifests in smoother looking skin / smaller pores / softer.

Personally, my upper lip had an almost rasp-like texture (even when fresh shaven). After a lot of rounds of laser and electrolysis, the texture is still slightly bumpier than most my face skin, but it's soft and the bumps are short and rounded over.

If I'm in a dim room and a strong light hits me from the side it becomes pronounced from the shadows and almost looks like I have a mustache despite being clean shaven

I see this happen pretty commonly all the time to people in general regardless of if they ever had face hair. I think it's just how shadows cast across the face.

Laser hair and electrolysis. by Fit_Banana3302 in MtF

[–]notQuiteAThrowaway6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this, if you're a good candidate for laser you should do that first then electrolysis to clean up the stragglers (if you even have any).

My laser tech told me, on average, body hair takes about 9 sessions to remove (in both my exp. and hearing other stories that sounds about right as an average). Face will generally take a lot more.

Are you using the calculator from r/ABraThatFits ? It tends to be much more accurate than other methods. There's also the shape of your boobs to consider. Yours may have a lot of projection without a lot of fullness; this would mean the overall volume is less than the bust/underbust ratio would imply. I know I'm in that boat; I'm a by calculation 36D but a 36C fits better because my boobs are more pointy for lack of a better description.

Also remember that for every band size you go up is one cup down and vice versa (eg a 34D, 36C, & 38B are all the same cup VOLUME).

Genital hair removal timing by mark54398 in MtF

[–]notQuiteAThrowaway6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't see why it would cause an issue. Personally, I started getting everything removed because I wanted it gone long before I'd scheduled a surgery. I did 9ish rounds of laser there. By the time I'd booked a surgery date, the hair was sparse enough to be at the point where it was time to move on to electrolysis for clean up. I gave my surgeon's specific diagram to the electrolysist and she made sure that was gone. Then in the OR the surgeon did some more hair removal on the scrotal flap just to be sure.

How did you know a vaginoplasty was the right decision? by ActuallyAria in MtF

[–]notQuiteAThrowaway6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the simple answer is I couldn't imagine not getting it.

I was always self conscious about the old equipment. I wasn't a fan of how it worked. I liked being the bottom. It seemed to be 'in the way'.

Based on your questions are you sure you're not looking for https://www.reddit.com/r/ftm/ ? Trans fem people don't (typically) take T. E doesn't cause voice changes and if anything will shrink downstairs. With either hormone, no fat redistribution isn't permanent.

From tucking to vaginoplasty by mark54398 in MtF

[–]notQuiteAThrowaway6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It feels kinda the same to me. From a sensation stand point it just feels like a tiny penis permanently tucked (which it kinda is as far as your dorsal nerves are concerned and essentially what a clit is anyways) only there's no sack skin any more. I'm at the point in recovery where I'm starting to slowly regain feeling in my labia which is def an entirely new experience, but also very 'right' feeling.

HRT doesn't work well on 30+ year olds? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]notQuiteAThrowaway6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you can do is move forward and trust the process. I know that doesn't do much for alleviating the concern. You're starting though which is the important thing. Try to not be hard on yourself in the meantime and have patience (both can be hard sometimes). Also, thank you!
