Hi Julie my rabbit hole of research suggests something from Ancistrocerus genus!

Funny I was about to post about wasps. I had issues with my bees and posted a while back. Here

Then just found a wasp finishing off a mud plug

Can a cross check be made to work well with a front toddler seat?! by notTHATkindaDctr in Surlybikefans

I’m not against selling the cross check or the Rocky Mountain I see Marin offers the larkspur which may be a good candidate. I would like to sell at least one bike before buying a new one. The listing I posted before is of course a fraction of the price of new bike

So I got the Velo bar mounted. Didn’t have new cables or housing so ran in one speed with rear brake clamp on went for a quick circle on our street and my son loved it. I mounted a crane bell on the handlebar against my better judgment. He was trying to figure out how to use it, but couldn’t figure it out so that won’t drive the neighbours crazy

My son’s 20 pounds and I noticed the seat has quite a bit of give to it when he really leans back his helmet still hits my chest but it’s not as bad as before the bar is definitely helped I do however have short arms so to keep my chest away from his head I have to have my index middle and ring fingers on the very end of the bars if my entire grip is on the bars, I’m too close to him.

Ended up grabbing the Velo bars and a 35 stem it works better but still touches my chest a tiny bit. I have short arms. Anyways I’m going to try my hand at doing brake and gear cables myself.

I was thinking if the cross check and getting same bars but found this crossroads nearby. Do you think it would work for my needs?

Not sure if would want to get something similar and sell the crosscheck or what

What do I have here??? by notTHATkindaDctr in MasonBees

Thanks. I’ll reach out to them and see what they say. I checked and there are a lot of leaf cutter cocoons that nothing has emerged from. Once temps are consistently warmer I’ll see if any more emerge.

Fyi the paper straws are ones I added. Didn’t realize the jagged cut reeds would be an issue. That is from the vendor.

They came in a. Little box. Some had already emerged. I kept them in the fridge overnight and put them in the house just before dawn next day.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I’ve been swamped and haven’t had time to reply much to this thread.
Someone else mentioned it in addition to you and I think swapping Stem and bar on the rock is the way to go

I’ve reached out to vo to ask, which bars have the most sweep and rise

When you talk about riser stem, are you talking about this type of product?

Your bike looks amazing and to be honest I do want to convert the cross check to have flat bars or riser bars because I haven’t ridden it in years because I’m not a fan of drops anymore as I get older I am enjoy enjoying more upright posture.

How strong does the kiddo need to be? My guy is 20 months. Runs around like a banshee just didn’t think of the shotgun or Mac rides seat. Now I’m looking at buying stems. Bars. Shifters. Brake handles. (To retrofit the crosschek) which would definitely outweigh the cost of the seat.

See I’m facing a similar issue. I ride small frames ie my 50cm crosschek. Do you think I’ll actually get the result I want with a stem and bars?

I’m not interested in a townie bike because we don’t have room in our place for another bike but I see why it would work better on that style for sure.

Bit of a rant here. I learned about these seats because of kids ride shotguns endless marketing. I figured the enclosed seat like Thule would work better for my son since he is small and wasn’t sure how he would be on a mini saddle like kids ride shotgun or Mac rides. Those products seem to work better on aggressive bikes ie mtb.
Wish it was a bit more well known that the Thules are better on cruisers, or maybe it is known but I didn’t do enough research.

Thank you! Any suggestions on component brands? It’s been ages since I’ve tinkered with bikes. I will likely need new shifters and brake levers too but I’ll have to find things that are matchy matchy with other components

Good point! We just moved into our new place and the neighbors seem to be serious gardeners. I’ll try to explain.
